Kevin Butler Being Sued By Sony

Sony is suing Jerry Lambert, the actor who plays Kevin Butler after he appeared in an advert for Bridgestone Tires playing a Wii game.

Butler was the face of many of Sony’s advertising campaigns and was adored despite only having a fictional executive role in the company. This was due to his cheeky adverts that didn’t mind poking fun at the competition, especially Microsoft’s Kinect device, “who wants to chase a red ball!” The highpoint being a rousing E3 speech dedicated to gamers.

Lose The Cops In Latest Need For Speed: Most Wanted Gameplay Trailer

This is more like it, a trailer that shows continuous uninterrupted gameplay as opposed to flashily edited footage using multiple angles. This is how the game will look when you’re playing it. Frankly, it’s made us want it even more as this really could fill that Burnout sized hole we’ve had in our hearts since 2008.

There seems to be a lot of information on screen at once, which could prove to be a distraction, especially the options we glimpsed showing how you can adjust impact protection settings and the like. The event we see looks intense enough as it is. While trying to track down an opponent we’re flying through the huge environment trying to lose the cops by beating speed traps and slamming through barricades too. So far, this may be the most appropriately titled game in the series. Continue reading Lose The Cops In Latest Need For Speed: Most Wanted Gameplay Trailer

Joe Danger 2 Dated and Priced for PSN

Well Microsoft, you didn’t manage to keep that as an exclusive for very long did you? We’re delighted to tell you that Joe Danger 2: The Movie will be coming home to PSN next week on October 10th.

The PS3 version will be coming packed with exclusive content too which will make up for the wait hopefully. Essentially, we’re getting something of a Director’s Cut or something Sean Murray and the Hello Games team have referred to as Joe Danger Gaiden when speaking to the EU PS Blog. Essentially this is the bastard-hard version of the original game deemed too harsh for mass consumption at the time and will last at least ten hours.

Rocketbirds Coming to PC October 15th

Almost a year after coming to PSN, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken finally has a firm October 15th release date for the PC.

If you ever wondered what the Oddworld Abe games would play like if he had a machine gun then Rocketbirds is keen to let you know. Featuring 2D gameplay with platforming and puzzle solving, a bit of lateral thinking is required to get past the guards. That, and a few mind-control grenades. The shooting is surprisingly violent as enemies can be juggled in the air as you riddle them with bullets.

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes (Review)

The traditional point and click style adventure game is dead and buried as far as consoles are concerned, which makes Frogwares decision to bring this series to PS3 and Xbox 360 a brave one, but we’re certainly up for giving it a go.

Instead of the usual lever-pulling puzzles we’re used to, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes will require a bit more brainpower to proceed. Solving gruesome murder mysteries is the most enticing prospect and when you’re investigating a crime scene, the game really stands out. As with many of these games though, there tends to be a reliance on bizarre puzzles too. More on those later.

New Far Cry 3 Savages Trailer Increases ‘Want’ Factor

Two whole months to go until Far Cry 3 is released and each trailer just makes the wait even worse. This new video introduces us to Buck, an Aussie nutcase that we get the feeling may even turn out to be worse than Vaas. The action shows us more tantalising glimpses of the island from land, sea and air. With the environments looking as gorgeous as they are, we’re hoping the game will start a trend for not basing your game in industrial estates and office blocks. More trees, more beaches, more sun and definitely more tigers in everything from now on please. Continue reading New Far Cry 3 Savages Trailer Increases ‘Want’ Factor

Code Of Princess Trailer For The 3DS

Fans of old-school scrolling beat ‘em ups should fix their eyes all over this new Code of Princess trailer. Featuring some terrific-looking action that’s very reminiscent of games like Guardian Heroes, this melee combat-heavy RPG is coming out October 10th in North America. Sadly, no date has been confirmed yet for Europe, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for you. Continue reading Code Of Princess Trailer For The 3DS

Bigger Breasts Demanded By Dead Or Alive Fans

That’s right folks we have another Dead or Alive game, so here’s another boob-related story. At least Tecmo Koei hasn’t stuck a pair on a wall to advertise the game this time (see video below). In an interview with Gamasutra, game director, Yohei Shimbori reveals that his studio was initially told by their overseas offices to tone down the sexualised characters in Dead or Alive 5.

This created a backlash though when fans played a demo of the game bundled with Ninja Gaiden 3. Shimbori said, “We actually got a lot of feedback from people who were playing it, saying, ‘We want bigger breasts. Make the characters more like that.’ That was kind of surprising.” Continue reading Bigger Breasts Demanded By Dead Or Alive Fans

Rainbow Moon Heading to Vita In 2013

Popular PSN RPG, Rainbow Moon, will be released on PS Vita next year. Publisher eastasiasoft have just announced the news and Marcus Pukropski, CEO of the game’s developers, SideQuest Studios said, “We’ve been asked this question many times, I’m so very happy to finally announce that we will bring Rainbow Moon to the PS Vita. All the feedback we have received for Rainbow Moon during the last few months has been tremendous, and I hope that today’s announcement will make a lot of PS Vita owners and Rainbow Moon fans happy.” Continue reading Rainbow Moon Heading to Vita In 2013

NBA Live 13 Cancelled

EA have once again decided to cancel development of their latest NBA title, NBA Live 13. Originally planned for an October release, the news is sudden to say the least. The decision was made due to the game not meeting EA’s required standards. Considering the strong competition coming from 2K Sports’ NBA 2K13 it’s perhaps unsurprising that EA don’t want to release a notably under par product.

Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice President of the EA Sports label, released the following statement on the official website: Continue reading NBA Live 13 Cancelled

Injustice: Gods Among Us (Preview)

NetherRealm, the studio formed from the remains of Midway, have been one of the few developers outside of Japan that haven’t given up on providing us with beat ‘em up brawlers over the years. Most famous for the Mortal Kombat series, their last title Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe, whet our appetites for more from the DC collection as the two worlds didn’t quite connect as gamers wanted. Mainly because DC won’t let you gut DC characters in the way Mortal Kombat games are all about.

Now we’re free to play as these classic DC characters in a manner much more suited to their elaborate comic book backgrounds. The fighting style and feel may initially seem similar to Mortal Kombat, but it isn’t long before we start to see why this game is standing out from not only Mortal Kombat but other big name fighters too.

Game Providing Free Wi-Fi In All Stores By Christmas

In a move to get more people into stores, Game are enhancing the digital experience on the high street by providing free access to Wi-Fi service in all of their shops.

A Game app will provide customers with information on products and stores will have QR codes to scan which will link to in-store promotions and products.

Here at Dealspwn we’ve often spoke about how high-street stores need to move towards providing something of a social hub experience, and while there’s no mention of them selling coffee and doughnuts and sticking a few chairs in, we’re liking the new direction the company is heading towards since the new retail boss, Martyn Gibbs, moved in. Castle Crashers PC Release Date Announced

How has it taken this long? Must surely be the questions on thousands of PC gamer’s lips? Originally released on XBLA in 2008, I thought PS3 gamers had it bad waiting until 2010 to play this little corker.

This old school scrolling beat ‘em up features simple controls and basic levelling up elements, making it very accessible to all gamers. Four-player co-op is just a dream too, not to mention it makes the boss battles less frustrating.

Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time Release Dates Announced

Sony have been way too quiet about the latest Sly Cooper game, but at least some release dates have been squeezed out of them. America will get the game February 5th, while Europe will have to settle for a vague ‘March’ date. Cheers.

We’d like to say that at least the game won’t get lost amidst all the Christmas releases, but so many big titles are going for that tactic now that we’re getting a second glut of games spilling over into the first quarter of 2013.

Borderlands 2 Box Art Accused Of Ripping Off Brit Artist’s Work, Pitchford Responds Admirably

Someone at Gearbox Software might be out of a job by Monday morning. The inside cover for Borderlands 2 features an image ridiculously similar to one created by popular UK artist Olly Moss.

Moss is known for designing movie posters for The Dark Knight and Moon amongst others and Resistance 3 on the PS3. He was also commissioned to create some posters for the Star Wars movies for the Mondo art house and it’s one of these images that’s causing the problem.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Review)

Accessibility and new fans. That’s what Namco would have you believe are the targets that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is aiming for as one of the most respected names in the fighter genre returns. Getting new players used to the basics of the series has always been an obstacle many fighting games so anything that seeks to address this is going to be well worth a look.

The Fight Lab is Namco’s attempt to ease-in new players and get them used to Tekken’s basics. Basics that to outsiders make the game immensely difficult to pick up and play with the same level of success as the Street Fighter or Soul Calibur titles. Button bashing in Tekken games will generally get you nowhere, thus making it less enjoyable to crack out at parties for anyone that hasn’t played them before.

Lego City Undercover Trailer: A Wii U System Seller?

Ever wondered how Traveller’s Tales would cope when tasked with making a Lego game that didn’t have a huge film license behind it? Better than ever it would seem. This cheesy cops and robbers caper borrows from classic crime movies and looks set to be packed with nods and references to San Francisco-based flicks and the Dirty Harry bit towards the end of the trailer is just one of numerous funny moments during the two-minute peak at the Wii U exclusive.

Characters are fully voiced, just as we recently saw in Lego Batman 2, which will allow for a proper story and will keep the laughs coming throughout. An early look at how the Game Pad will be used shows the player using the screen to scan the TV to look for heat signatures from hiding crims on a sunny rooftop.

Helicopters, ambulances and boats are shown off around the sun kissed city indicating a few extra Civil Servant duties may be on the cards. This might be the closest we get to a Lego GTA game, albeit on the right side of the law. Mind you, what’s that fella doing with a crow bar? Even Lego misbehaves at times it would seem.

Trine 2: Director’s Cut Trailer Shows Wealth Of New Content For Wii U

We’re already getting used to seeing Wii U versions of existing games that chuck in the odd new mode or control scheme but this new trailer shows off loads of new environments for the upcoming Trine 2: Director’s Cut. We want it now.

The scenes shown in the trailer show desert sandworms, dragons and underground ruins, none of which were included in the original release. The graphics themselves are some of the best we’ve seen on the Wii U console too.

This is only a teaser trailer really, so we don’t get to see how the Wii U’s Game Pad will be used specifically in the game, but we imagine players controlling the wizard will be able to use it to move objects around with the touch-screen while the thief and knight characters are controlled with regular controllers.
