Contrast Gameplay Trailer Moves in the Shadows

This is our first proper look at some gameplay for the upcoming platformer from Compulsion Games, Contrast. Set in 1920s Paris, with a burlesque-noir carnival style, your journey will follow the story of the little girl Didi and her imaginary acrobatic friend, Dawn.

In an interesting twist, you will be able to jump into the shadows, turning parts of the game into a 2D platformer. It looks like you will use both dimensions to solve puzzles and move around the game world. We’re getting a similar vibe to dimension-shifting games like Super Paper Mario, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams or the upcoming Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. This is a good thing.

PS4 gamers with a PS+ subscription will get the game for free at launch. Elsewhere it will be released on Xbox 360 and PC on November 15th and PS3 on November 20th. Continue reading Contrast Gameplay Trailer Moves in the Shadows

Puppeteer Launch Trailer – Buy It Now!

Rayman Legends may have been stealing all the limelight recently, but you really shouldn’t let Sony’s awesome platformer pass you by. Matt scored the game 8/10 this week. I’ve played through the game too and absolutely loved it. It’s beautifully designed both technically and visually. Don’t forget there’s a killer co-op mode too, player two can control a flying character to help you find hidden items and remove obstacles for you. Check out some awesome footage in the launch trailer after the break. Continue reading Puppeteer Launch Trailer – Buy It Now!

Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus Trailer Has an Xmas Gun!

All hail the Winterizer! Ratchet’s new gun turns enemies into snowmen that give out health and ammo! Insomniac Games can’t help themselves, as they’re bringing yet another Ratchet & Clank game to PS3 despite  now working on multiplatform titles. It would seem they’re a long way off running out of ideas for new weapons too if this new trailer is anything to go by.

Into the Nexus is set to be a return to the classic games, carrying on the story arc from A Crack in Time. The last game focused on awful tower defence sections, so this is awesome news. Also, there’s some neat little 2D platforming sections to look forward to. This is looking like one of the best Ratchet games in years. Knack may have to wait. Knack Gets A Gamescom Trailer

Sony’s upcoming action platformer is looking pretty sweet so far. With Mark Cerny, the lead architect on the PS4, working on the game, we’re sure he’s going to try and get something special from the new console. Not to mention he has a rich platforming history including the best of the best: Sonic 2, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter. The guy knows his stuff.

Knack features a transforming hero that builds himself up by destroying objects, but he can become smaller to sneak through tighter areas too, which should break up all the goblin smacking. We’ve got high hopes for this one, especiallyseeing as it’s the only platformer in Sony’s launch lineup. Continue reading Knack Gets A Gamescom Trailer

Disney Infinity Toy Box Combat Trailer

Only a few weeks to go now before Disney’s tie-in to end all tie-ins arrives. This latest trailer shows off multiple characters’ attack moves and lots of crazy weaponry in Toy Box mode, where players can create or download new levels. Check out my hands-on preview for more details on this section of the game.

Disney Infinity clearly has the likes of Skylanders and Little Big Planet in its sights and with the huge range of Disney and Pixar characters and worlds to choose from, we think this could be something special. We’re expecting Disney to take advantage of their new Star Wars and Marvel licenses with this too, so you’ll finally have an excuse for filling your house with plastic toys again. Check out the trailer after the break. Continue reading Disney Infinity Toy Box Combat Trailer

Confirmed: Sega Are Remaking Castle of Illusion

Last weekend we posted a teaser trailer that had us believing (hoping) that Sega were going to answer our demented fan mail and remake the classic Mega Drive game, Castle of Illusion, starring Mickey Mouse. Well, the big teases have finally confirmed that they are working on a HD re-imagining of the game for PSN, XBLA and PC platforms.

Sega Studios Australia are handling development and they are also working with the original game’s director. From the screenshots released so far, it seems that they are sticking with 2D gameplay, which is something of a relief. Sega’s Senior Digital Brand Manager, Mai Kawaguchi, supported this by saying, “If you have played the original game, you will also see that we have kept intact many of the major iconic elements of the game that helped define this groundbreaking game at the time of its original release.”

No pricing details are available at this time but we know the game will be released this summer. Check out a few new screenshots and a trailer after the break.

Castle of Illusion Remake Teased By Sega

Sega have released a new video simply named, ‘Teaser Trailer.’ The imagery prompts fond memories of the 1990 Mega Drive classic, Castle of Illusion, starring Mickey Mouse. This leads us to believe we’re getting a remake or maybe even a proper sequel.

The sinister figure staring out of a gloomy castle window appears to be Maleficent, the villain of the original who also featured in Sleeping Beauty and more recently, the Kingdom Hearts games. A rolling apple at the end of the video is also another hint as the player collected apples during the original game. The small copyright logo in the corner also says 1990, the same year the original was released.

We’d love to get our hands on a new Castle of Illusion game and it looks like we might in the summer. While you’re at it Sega, feel free to give us a reboot of the co-op antics of World of Illusion too. Continue reading Castle of Illusion Remake Teased By Sega

Puppeteer Story Trailer Sets the Stage

Man, September is far away. Sony Japan’s upcoming theatrical platformer looks like nothing else on the horizon right now and here at Dealspwn we can’t wait. Visually it looks like a mashup of LittleBigPlanet and The Nightmare Before Christmas and the booming audio demands the game to be played through speakers to get that theatre-feel.

The latest trailer introduces the main character and the villain of the piece, with a few glimpses of the fearsome boss fights you’ll encounter. A US price-tag of $40 at the end of the trailer suggests a budget-priced retail game, which on these shores should be a very tempting £25. Check out the trailer after the jump, I’ve also popped the old reveal trailer in afterwards if you want to get up to speed and have a look at some gameplay too. Sly 4 Pulling the Heist Trailer

The release date still hasn’t been nailed down, but we’re expecting the game around March. In the mean time, check out this new trailer which shows off the various parts that make up a mission for Sly and his fellow thieves.

Sly will be getting new skills depending which time period he’s visiting, here we see him don a shogun-samurai suit of armour. Fans of the series will know what to expect as they go through Bentley’s extravagant list of tasks before taking on the final heist mission for each area. Murray usually does the driving and muscle work, but his latest skill seems to involve enticing guards away with his feminine ways. Wait.. what?

Don’t forget, buying the PS3 game gives you free access to the Vita version too, which supports cross-saves. Check out the trailer after the jump. Continue reading Sly 4 Pulling the Heist Trailer

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz Vita Launch Trailer

The Super Monkey Ball series hasn’t really found a home since the days of the GameCube. But from the looks of this new launch trailer, the PS Vita may be a perfect match for the series.

Featuring optional tilt controls, lots of touchscreen elements and a grand selection of minigames and local and online multiplayer modes this looks very promising. You don’t need me to tell you that everything’s better with monkeys. And this has Monkey flippin’ Bingo. Aces.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is out on the PS Vita now and you can see the trailer by clicking the link below.

Rocketbirds Coming to PC October 15th

Almost a year after coming to PSN, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken finally has a firm October 15th release date for the PC.

If you ever wondered what the Oddworld Abe games would play like if he had a machine gun then Rocketbirds is keen to let you know. Featuring 2D gameplay with platforming and puzzle solving, a bit of lateral thinking is required to get past the guards. That, and a few mind-control grenades. The shooting is surprisingly violent as enemies can be juggled in the air as you riddle them with bullets.
