NetherRealm have built up a strong roster of characters for Injustice: Gods Among Us since release, with regular DLC drops doing a great job of keeping the game locked into our consoles whenever we feel a bit fighty.
Zatanna the magician is the latest fighter and we have history and gamplay videos for you after the break. She’s going to be a tough one in the hands on experts as she’s very fast. Cool teleport moves and excellent juggling skills are ready to make your life hell. Her magic skills mean Superman in particular is going to have a tough time with her, which should please Batman no end. Unless Zatanna mind-wipes him again. Still, we’d rather risk that than have to spend any time with the cast of Charmed or Hermione. Videos after the break a review link here. Continue reading Zatanna Added to Injustice Roster →

Been to watch Man of Steel recently? The epic brawls between Superman and his classic nemesis, General Zod, have probably nicely whetted your appetite to re-enact the Kryptonian grudge match in the best fighting game of 2013 so far.
For 400 MS points/£3.99 you can add General Zod to the roster in Injustice: Gods Among Us. He’ has many exciting powers, like summoning a phantom creature for assistance, trapping foes in phantom prisons or just smashing them right through the moon. His appearance sadly doesn’t take inspiration from any of the movies he’s appeared in. Instead he’s bald and has a terrible excuse for a beard. He looks rubbish to be honest, but he could be fun to play as.
Also newly available is a new Man of Steel skin (80 MS points/79p) for Superman and The New 52, Blackest Night 2 and Earth 2 packs for 240 points or £2.39 each. Enjoy a Zod gameplay trailer and a history video too after the break. Continue reading General Zod DLC Out Now for Injustice: Gods Among us →

It’s official, Batgirl will be joining the likes of Batman, Flash, Joker and Wonder Woman in this year’s top brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. The news was confirmed via the game’s Twitter feed after a few leaked images appeared on the net.
There’s no release date yet, but we presume she’ll be included in the season pass. Expect a gameplay video showing off her skills at some point next week. We imagine she’ll play like a more nimble version of Batman. The nasty, pasty slaver Lobo has also been confirmed as a DLC character -and we were worried they’d have to scrape the barrel to expand the roster, ahem. Other rumours point towards the Superman series villain Zod and Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion turning up at some point.

Heads up fight fans, Warner Bros. Interactive have confirmed that Injustice: Gods Among Us is getting a PS3 and 360 demo next week. April 3rd is the date the demo will land on both platforms in EU territories, or a day earlier in the US.
The demo will allow you to try out Batman, Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor. They’re not the most energetic of scrappers from what we’ve seen in the gameplay bouts released so far. Superman and The Flash look much more appealing to be honest. Even so we can’t wait to try out the destructible interactive environments that look to give Injustice an edge over the competition. There are a few gameplay trailers after the break too including a new Green Arrow Vs Black Adam fight. Continue reading Injustice: Gods Among Us Demo Incoming →

Here’s another collection of videos from the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Arena for you. This time we get to see Superman square up to Sinestro and Green Arrow attempt to ground Hawkgirl. The variety of moves on show is astounding, giving the game a real feel of getting into the spirit of each character, more than any comic/fighting cross-over I’ve ever seen. Using the environment plays a key part once again with a few jaw-dropping scenes. If this plays half as entertainingly as it is to watch I think Warner Bros may be onto a winner. Injustice: Gods Among Us is out April 19th. Continue reading Superman, Sinestro, Green Arrow and Hawkgirl Get Smashed Up in Injustice Videos →

Fighting games aren’t known for making an effort with their stories, but if this new story trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us is anything to go by, that could be set to change. With such a rich heritage of DC Comics to fall back on, it makes sense that the developers should aim to give a little purpose to the action.
The cutscene footage is looking impressive and it’s pleasing to hear some familiar voices behind the masks. Many of the outfits seem to be more armoured than the classic looks we’re used to, but when you look at the fighting itself, we can hardly blame them for wanting a bit of extra protection.
We’re really looking forwards to the game as it looks set to shake up the genre somewhat with the most impressive interactive environments ever seen in a fighting game, which should elevate it above the impression of a Mortal Kombat game with DC characters. Wait, they already did that one. Check out my Gamescom Preview for more information ahead of the April 19th release date. Details for the game’s Collector’s Edition can be found here. NetherRealm, the studio formed from the remains of Midway, have been one of the few developers outside of Japan that haven’t given up on providing us with beat ‘em up brawlers over the years. Most famous for the Mortal Kombat series, their last title Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe, whet our appetites for more from the DC collection as the two worlds didn’t quite connect as gamers wanted. Mainly because DC won’t let you gut DC characters in the way Mortal Kombat games are all about.
Now we’re free to play as these classic DC characters in a manner much more suited to their elaborate comic book backgrounds. The fighting style and feel may initially seem similar to Mortal Kombat, but it isn’t long before we start to see why this game is standing out from not only Mortal Kombat but other big name fighters too.
