Crikey, talk about a ‘reveal’ trailer. Laura was unofficial unveiled as a brand new Street Fighter V character a few days ago, but today we can bring you her actual gameplay footage. One look at her in action and we’re certainly thinking she’ll be replacing Blanka on the day one roster. While her style is a bit faster than the green man-beast, her use of electric shock moves and a Blanka-esque roll move incorporated into her V-Trigger finisher makes us think Capcom have fallen for their own Brazilian bombshell over him. Not that he couldn’t appear as an unlockable character post-launch. Continue reading Street Fighter V Laura trailer and new beta dates

Zangief and Laura added to Street Fighter V roster
Zangief is now officially coming to Street Fighter V and even has a new trailer. That’s not much of a surprise, but the leaked images of a new character certainly are. While yet to be officially announced via a trailer, expect to see Laura in action very soon if these leaked images are anything to go by.
Coming from Famitsu (via Event Hubs) the new leaked screens show the new fighter giving Ryu a beat of a beating. If rumours are to be believed. Laura is a Brazilian fighter and harnesses electrical abilities similar to Blanka. Does this mean the green man beast has been replaced in Street Fighter V?
You can see some more Laura screens and the Zangief trailer below. Continue reading Zangief and Laura added to Street Fighter V roster
Street Fighter V beta extended after terrible start
Many gamers (including most of the Dealspwn team) were planning on getting stuck into the PS4 beta for Street Fighter V over the weekend, but those plans were scuppered by Capcom mere minutes into launch. On Friday afternoon, the fighting game’s beta was taken offline for maintenance and has struggled to get back online throughout the weekend.
We were planning on bringing you a team roundtable impressions piece on the game, but you may have to wait a while as collectively, we’ve mainly just seen the title and loading screens in action. The beta was due to finish tomorrow, but Capcom have confirmed [via Twitter] that the beta will be extended, although by how much remains unknown. Necalli is your new contender in Street Fighter V
A new contender has entered the arena for Street Fighter V. Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce Necalli. Don’t get to close, he’s got that look in his eye that says he might be a biter.
Necalli is a brand new character, and not simply one that’s been dusted off from an older game. His back story is yet to be revealed but his name is the Aztec word for ‘battle.’
His introduction trailer shows him handing Ken a bit of an ass kicking. Apparently he’s not convinced about the new hair-do either. Speaking of hair, Necalli’s undergoes a violent transformation during the bout. This V-Trigger mode powers him up for a while opening up new combos, varied frame data and a new Critical Art attack. It looks well worth powering up, just for the additional flare alone, as the floating hair effects look absolutely stunning. Continue reading Necalli is your new contender in Street Fighter V
Ultra Street Fighter IV dated and priced for PS4 release
Sony have just posted on their US blog, that they’re ‘aiming’ for a May 26th release date for Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 in the US and Europe. Fingers crossed they make the date as we’re pretty pumped for a new version of Street Fighter IV.
You’d think that after multiple re-releases, we’d be burnt out on Capcom’s series, but no. This new version will contain all of the extra costume DLC, all the extra characters and all stages released from every version of SFIV. Better yet, this version will also include five new characters and six new stages. The input lag noticed by some players of Ultra SFIVC on PS3 has also been fixed. The Omega Mode where all the character balances are nerfed will also make an appearance. Best of all though is the price. Continue reading Ultra Street Fighter IV dated and priced for PS4 release
Mortal Kombat X story trailer – Adding sense to the violence?
Check out the brand new story trailer for Mortal Kombat X one of our most eagerly awaited titles of 2015. Just like the studio’s last game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, the story will see you controlling multiple characters which is a great way to try out a wide variety of the roster rather than settling on an old favourite for the entire game.
The story will take place over a period of twenty years, so prepare for some epic scenes and find out why everyone’s so keen to get their hands on that stone. The trailer also promotes the exclusive special edition at Game where you’ll get Goro as a playable character for £47.99 (ouch indeed).
Or you could order at these much cheaper prices below. Stay tuned to our game deals page for regular discount on the hottest games.
Tekken X Street Fighter Format and Date STILL Missing from Namco’s Schedule
We’ve just had the latest release schedule from Bandai Namco and Tekken X Street Fighter is still AWOL. Just like it was when I raised concerns in February last year.
Initially announced for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms five years ago, recent updates have seen the platforms replaced with TBC, raising suspicions that the game will now be coming to the new-gen consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One. Originally we were expecting the game to land a year after Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken, but we haven’t even seen a single screenshot, leading to further speculation that the game has been cancelled. Are Bandai Namco set to drop it in order to move forwards with their FTP fighters like Tekken Revolution or Soul Calibur Lost Swords?
Thankfully some of their other titles do have some solid release dates including Tales of Xillia 2, Grid Autosport, The Witcher 3 and the DLC for Dark Souls 2. Continue reading Tekken X Street Fighter Format and Date STILL Missing from Namco’s Schedule
Sabrewulf Replaces Jago in Killer Instinct
Since launch on the Xbox One, Jago has been the sole free fighter in Killer Instinct with everyone else available to purchase separately. However, Microsoft has just released a patch to replace him with Sabrewulf so players can try a new character free of charge, which could help lapsed gamers return to the fold.
The latest patch also introduces a number of fixes which you can find below courtesy of the game’s website. For more information on the game’s character bundles, click here. Jon has a review of the game too. Continue reading Sabrewulf Replaces Jago in Killer Instinct
Orchid Smashes Into Killer Instinct’s Roster
The Killer Instinct reboot is the only next-gen fighter on the horizon and we’re seeing more characters being added to the free-to-play(ish) title. The latest addition is Orchid, a baton-wielding female fighter who transforms into a tiger. So yeah, she’s a bit feisty.
The new trailer shows her giving a hell of a beating to Jago and there’s a bit of tease for Spinal being the next character to be announced too. If you haven’t heard already, the game will be an exclusive free download on the Xbox One, but all the characters -except for Jago- will have to be paid for separately. It’s an interesting concept, especially as many fighter fans usually stick with a small handful of characters, so it could work. Fingers crossed that you’ll at least be able to try them out before buying though. For more details on pricing and bundles click here. Continue reading Orchid Smashes Into Killer Instinct’s Roster
Capcom Release 70 Minute ‘I Am Street Fighter’ Documentary on YouTube
Got 70 minutes spare to sit through a history lesson you’ll actually enjoy? Well, get comfortable and enjoy this new documentary Capcom have made available for free on YouTube – it was previously an exclusive with the pricey 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set.
The informative documentary focuses on the runaway success of Street Fighter 2 in the 1990s and how it ignited the fighting genre like nothing before or since. Expect interviews with key developers and pro gamers. We’ve got the whole thing lined up for you after the break. Spawn and Heihachi Available on Both Formats for Soul Calibur II HD Online
When originally released in 2003, Heihachi and Spawn were exclusive characters for the PS2 and Xbox respectively. However, the upcoming HD re-release of the best entry of the franchise will do away with exclusive rights and allow players on PS3 and 360 to enjoy both fighters.
Heihachi, the mental old dad from Tekken is something of a hard sell in SC seeing as he’s the only unarmed character, but anyone daring to rock that hair and start on people with swords is going to be worth a shot. Comic book star (of many years ago) Spawn, seems much more at home with a tasty-looking axe to cleave opponents with. Not so sure about the outfit. Voldo might take him on a date though. Zatanna Added to Injustice Roster
NetherRealm have built up a strong roster of characters for Injustice: Gods Among Us since release, with regular DLC drops doing a great job of keeping the game locked into our consoles whenever we feel a bit fighty.
Zatanna the magician is the latest fighter and we have history and gamplay videos for you after the break. She’s going to be a tough one in the hands on experts as she’s very fast. Cool teleport moves and excellent juggling skills are ready to make your life hell. Her magic skills mean Superman in particular is going to have a tough time with her, which should please Batman no end. Unless Zatanna mind-wipes him again. Still, we’d rather risk that than have to spend any time with the cast of Charmed or Hermione. Videos after the break a review link here. Continue reading Zatanna Added to Injustice Roster
Dead or Alive 5 Gets Ultimate Edition
Fighting fans who are yet to pick up Dead or Alive 5 may want to wait until the autumn as Tecmo Koei have announced a new edition, Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate for the PS3 and Xbox 360. This will feature all of the extra content included in the PS Vita game, Dead or Alive 5 Plus, namely the extra characters, stages and modes. More extras and characters are yet to be announced but we can confirm that Ninja Gaiden’s Momiji has already been added to the chest-heavy roster of fighters. Seeing as Akira is already in there, Pai, Lau, Jacky, Wolf or Sarah from Virtua Fighter may be a good fit too if anyone’s listening.
Many PS3 gamers may already own the gorgeous-looking and fun to play original DoA5 as it was available as a part of the PS Plus membership, so there will need to be some must-have content to convince them to get their wallets out. Personally, if they could tweak the counters system to be more like it was for DoA2 on the PS2 I’d be tempted. In the meantime, check out Ultimate’s trailer showing Momiji in action. Batgirl Confirmed As New Injustice Character
It’s official, Batgirl will be joining the likes of Batman, Flash, Joker and Wonder Woman in this year’s top brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. The news was confirmed via the game’s Twitter feed after a few leaked images appeared on the net.
There’s no release date yet, but we presume she’ll be included in the season pass. Expect a gameplay video showing off her skills at some point next week. We imagine she’ll play like a more nimble version of Batman. The nasty, pasty slaver Lobo has also been confirmed as a DLC character -and we were worried they’d have to scrape the barrel to expand the roster, ahem. Other rumours point towards the Superman series villain Zod and Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion turning up at some point.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Demo Incoming
Heads up fight fans, Warner Bros. Interactive have confirmed that Injustice: Gods Among Us is getting a PS3 and 360 demo next week. April 3rd is the date the demo will land on both platforms in EU territories, or a day earlier in the US.
The demo will allow you to try out Batman, Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor. They’re not the most energetic of scrappers from what we’ve seen in the gameplay bouts released so far. Superman and The Flash look much more appealing to be honest. Even so we can’t wait to try out the destructible interactive environments that look to give Injustice an edge over the competition. There are a few gameplay trailers after the break too including a new Green Arrow Vs Black Adam fight. Continue reading Injustice: Gods Among Us Demo Incoming
Superman, Sinestro, Green Arrow and Hawkgirl Get Smashed Up in Injustice Videos
Here’s another collection of videos from the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Arena for you. This time we get to see Superman square up to Sinestro and Green Arrow attempt to ground Hawkgirl. The variety of moves on show is astounding, giving the game a real feel of getting into the spirit of each character, more than any comic/fighting cross-over I’ve ever seen. Using the environment plays a key part once again with a few jaw-dropping scenes. If this plays half as entertainingly as it is to watch I think Warner Bros may be onto a winner. Injustice: Gods Among Us is out April 19th. Continue reading Superman, Sinestro, Green Arrow and Hawkgirl Get Smashed Up in Injustice Videos
Injustice: Gods Among Us Story Trailer
Fighting games aren’t known for making an effort with their stories, but if this new story trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us is anything to go by, that could be set to change. With such a rich heritage of DC Comics to fall back on, it makes sense that the developers should aim to give a little purpose to the action.
The cutscene footage is looking impressive and it’s pleasing to hear some familiar voices behind the masks. Many of the outfits seem to be more armoured than the classic looks we’re used to, but when you look at the fighting itself, we can hardly blame them for wanting a bit of extra protection.
We’re really looking forwards to the game as it looks set to shake up the genre somewhat with the most impressive interactive environments ever seen in a fighting game, which should elevate it above the impression of a Mortal Kombat game with DC characters. Wait, they already did that one. Check out my Gamescom Preview for more information ahead of the April 19th release date. Details for the game’s Collector’s Edition can be found here.
