COMPETITION: Win one month EA Access and 10 hour Star Wars: Battlefront trial

[UPDATE: The competition is now closed. Check your email/twitter inboxes to see if you’ve won!]

Star Wars: Battlefront is almost here, but how would you like to play it even sooner? We have three codes to give away for a month of EA Access on Xbox One.

The highlight of EA’s program right now being a free ten hour trial for Star Wars: Battlefront. That’s right, you’ll be able to download Battlefront as soon as you get a code and play it for ten hours, unlocking new gear, XP and achievements as you go. Then you’ll have the option of buying the game via download or your save file will work when you pick up the disc version.

Once you’ve blitzed 10 hours on that though, you’ll want to spend the rest of the month’s access downloading a wealth of hot EA content included Dragon Age: Inquisition, Need for Speed Rivals, UFC, Madden 15, FIFA 15 and more.

There are two ways to enter and feel free to try through both (although you’ll only win one code).  Continue reading COMPETITION: Win one month EA Access and 10 hour Star Wars: Battlefront trial

Rise of the Tomb Raider launch trailer + combat trailer

Here’s a duo of new trailers for Rise of the Tomb Raider. The launch trailer doesn’t have much new material as far as locations go, but there are some fresh character scenes with Lara’s friend, Hannah, and the no-good leader of Trinity. If you’re after some new footage, you’ll be better off checking out the second part of the Woman Vs Wild series, where we see Lara engaging enemies with different combat styles. Oddly enough, there  seems to be a lot of Stealth kill XP awarded for using explosives. Hmmm. Not that we can’t wait for the release in just 10 days time!

We’ve included the latest preorder deal too, although we’ve seen it cheaper in recent weeks. Continue reading Rise of the Tomb Raider launch trailer + combat trailer

Rise of the Tomb Raider – Harsh Environments trailer

A new series of Rise of the Tomb Raider videos entitled Woman Vs Wild are set to give us new looks at the game in the build up to launch next month. Today’s episode looks at ‘harsh environments’.

This shows us the wildlife Lara will face. And by face, I mean nail to the endangered species list with an arrow or possibly shotgun. There’s a brief mention of the story too and a look at the new expanded hub environments. Enjoy the trailer after the break and I’ve dug out the cheapest current preorder offer too. Continue reading Rise of the Tomb Raider – Harsh Environments trailer

Rise of the Tomb Raider – Descent into Legend trailer

It’s not hard to see why Microsoft were so keen to grab Rise of the Tomb Raider as an exclusive as it’s looking pretty damn good right now. The latest trailer is an action-packed tour of the various locations in the new title as we see gaming’s most beloved burglar embark on another epic quest to steal some fancy relics before the guys with guns do.

We’re presuming the relics are linked to an ancient power that shouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. Otherwise, it would mean that Lara’s just a murdery mental-case. We’ve always had an odd feeling about her yanno. Continue reading Rise of the Tomb Raider – Descent into Legend trailer

Perception stat explained in Fallout 4 trailer

Last week we had the Strength Fallout 4 infomercial and this week it’s time to look at the world of Perception. This retro-styled video explains how Perception fits into your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. statistical makeup.

For example, the higher your perception skill, the better your VATS accuracy will work again all those ‘post-nuclear nuisances’. Stealing and other forms of sneakery will also benefit. Continue reading Perception stat explained in Fallout 4 trailer

Final Fantasy XV will release in 2016 apparently

Enjoy the new trailer while you wait

While a specific release date for Final Fantasy XV won’t be confirmed for some time, the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, seems committed to a 2016 release date as he told Eurogamer:

“We really wanted to say something else, so we’ve got something we’d like to say – you won’t be waiting until 2017. We want to get that across. We want to reassure people that we are going to get it out.”

It’s only been in development for ten years, so it’s probably almost done in all fairness. We quite enjoyed the recent Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae demo and have been impressed in the way Square Enix used feedback to make adjustments to the game and then release a beefy patch for the demo to try out the new changes. More of this sort of thing please developers! but maybe don’t force players to buy a different game to get access to the demo, that’s a bit naughty.

When also asked about the possibility of sequels in the XV universe (as there were in the XIII series), Tabata replied: Continue reading Final Fantasy XV will release in 2016 apparently
