Always been a bit curious about Evolve, but been worried about putting any cash down because of all the talk about longevity and DLC minefields? We don’t blame you to be honest, but it’s always good to try a game for yourself over anything you’ll read about it. So it’s fantastic news that you’ll be able to play the game for free for a few days this weekend.

If you have a PC or Xbox One, you’ll be able to play online throughout this coming weekend, presumably by downloading a client from your usual digital outlet. Loads of characters and monsters will be unlocked, from each Season of DLC over the weekend too. Sadly, there’s no word on a free weekend on PS4, but we’ve heard that the DLC will open up for existing players for the same weekend at least.

A weekend’s play should help you decide if you’re going to want to pay for the full version of the game afterwards. If we’re honest though, given the large amount of (ridiculously priced) DLC, Evolve is highly likely to see a re-release with all the DLC included in the same manner as the upcoming physical release of Destiny: The Taken King, which has the game and all the expansion DLC for under £40.
