A tiny mention at the end of a recent competition post for the Rockstar Editor feature in the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V confirmed that the video editor mode is coming to both PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game in the next update.
“Congrats again to all our winners and thanks to all our talented entrants. The upcoming launch of the Rockstar Editor for PS4 and Xbox One as the next update to Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online means the next Rockstar Editor Contest will be the first one with entries across all three platforms – so the creative competition will be fiercer than ever. Stay tuned for info about that contest and forthcoming update.”
Not exactly much fanfare for what many console fans will be excited about as they get to edit together their impressive bouts of carnage or hilarious japes. You know what would make said japes even more hilarious though, Rockstar? Opening up mods on consoles too.
It’s great to see Rockstar bring the editing tools to the console versions and we’re excited that more and more formerly PC exclusive features are being implemented into console games. With news that Fallout 4 mods are coming to PS4 and Xbox One after launch, we could be looking at a seminal turning of the tides for the consoles to really open up and realise their potential.
