A brisk seven months after lurching onto consoles, Silent Hill: Downpour is finally getting a badly needed patch. While PS3 gamers will have to wait a few weeks, 360 players are able to download the patch now.
By this time next week, you’ll be rubbing your thumbs after the first of many intense nights’ racing with Need for Speed: Most Wanted. EA’s launch trailer is making the wait for Criterion’s open-world racer all the more unbearable.
Matt recently had a chinwag with Matt Webster, the game’s executive producer and you can read that interview here. Jon has an E3 preview for you too. Click through for the launch trailer and check-in again soon for our review.
The Super Monkey Ball series hasn’t really found a home since the days of the GameCube. But from the looks of this new launch trailer, the PS Vita may be a perfect match for the series.
Featuring optional tilt controls, lots of touchscreen elements and a grand selection of minigames and local and online multiplayer modes this looks very promising. You don’t need me to tell you that everything’s better with monkeys. And this has Monkey flippin’ Bingo. Aces.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is out on the PS Vita now and you can see the trailer by clicking the link below.
Attendees of yesterday’s Golden Joystick Awards were privy to an exclusive new Hitman: Absolution trailer. While a little light on gameplay, it ramps up the excitement with a cinematic build-up as we edge closer to the game’s release. OPM and OXM are the only publications with reviews so far and they both score the game 9/10 ahead of the November 20th release.
We’re super excited for Agent 47’s return, check out Jon’s hands-on preview to see why. Enjoy the trailer after the jump.
Check out this interview with Richard Farrese, writer of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, to see lots of gameplay involving the PS Vita’s touchscreen and touchpad controls. The screen can be used to paddle a canoe and rear pad brushes let you sneakily pick the pockets of people around town.
We also get to see the new chained kills system, where Aveline builds up a metre by being stealthy, before pausing the action, allowing you to tap multiple targets to take out in spectacular fashion. We’ve not been excited for a Vita game in quite some time, but this is certainly looking like the best we’ve seen since Drake. See the video after the jump.
The latest trailer for LittleBigPlanet Karting gives us a glimpse into the story thanks to a bit of narration from one Stephen Fry. There’s plenty of gameplay on show too, which might get you interested in the new kart racer coming from United Front Games, the studio behind ModNation Racers. Check out Matt’s hands-on preview while you’re here.
Ok folks, it’s early Sunday morning, October 21st, which means one thing, the new Bioshock Infinite trailer is finally here. Entitled The Beast of America, this is the video that was teased with a countdown timer on facebook where fans were able to choose from what they wanted to see more of. Elizabeth or Booker? Handymen or Songbird? What did they go for in the end? Click through to find out. You won’t be disappointed. Prepare to go nuts with questions at the first image too.
If you’re looking to ease the pain of a pricey purchase for a Wii U or PS Vita this Christmas, why not take advantage of Game’s temporary offer? They’re offering an extra 33% value on the price of their trade-ins on the following consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, PS2, PSP, Wii, DS and 3DS.
The offer expires on November 15th, which falls short of the Wii U’s November 30th release date. However, you can always put the trade-in credit on a card to redeem at a later date, i.e. launch day.
Well, we didn’t see that coming. The tabletop board game, Bioshock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia, will allow players to fight for the city as the Founders or Vox Populi. Irrational Games approached Plaid Hat Games to make the game and the team were “ecstatic” to get to work on it, as they were already big fans of the series.
The recently announced Songbird Edition of the video game features one of the miniatures that can be used in the game. Don’t worry if you don’t want to splash out on that edition of the game too, there are 52 more in the board game’s box along with cards, dice and so on.
I’d never make it as a WRC driver. Mainly because my first thoughts to hearing the words “Don’t cut” from my co-driver are “why not?” Which makes the rewind feature an invaluable tool in the boot of my rally experience, as once again Milestone encourage me to take my favourite Colin McRae inspired approach to rallying: “If in doubt. Flat out.”
Milestone has produced two of the best rally experiences I’ve had on this generation of consoles. Admittedly, WRC 2 was something of a version 1.5 over its predecessor, but the vision of the series has always been pure rallying, which is more than can be said of Codemasters’ recent efforts. Codemasters took the great Colin McRae series and produced the first impressive Dirt game before absolutely nailing it with Dirt 2. Then they got a big old man crush on Ken Block and started to make us drive our cars like poledancers. Sad times.
Despite Remember Me not even having a firm release date, it would seem Capcom are already planning to turn the game into a series. The new IP was revealed at Gamescom and has impressed us ever since with a series of gameplay videos showing combo editors, brawling and some seriously slick sci-fi locations.
At the end of the day, new IPs are risky ventures and it’s not really surprising that Capcom aren’t planning a one-off title.
The multiplayer component of upcoming FPS title, Metro: Last Light has been cancelled. 4A Games made a statement via the game’s blog, citing a desire to concentrate on the single-player campaign as the reason.
The decision was made after E3, but has only just been confirmed publically. Despite keen fan interest for details about the multiplayer, the developers realised that the single-player experience was what fans really care about. While the game won’t ship with any multiplayer, we could still see something later on.
Sony’s PS3 continues to lead as a platform striving to offer as many diverse experiences as possible. Admittedly, most have them have come from That Game Company in the shape of Flow, Flower and Journey. So it’s good to see a new studio emerge from under Sony’s wing to show us such a visually arresting game.
While the game is a first person title, I’d hesitate to class it as a first-person shooter, although it handles that way. There are no bullets here though, only paint and a few platforming sections.
This is what we like to see in instead of developers trying to fix scores on Metacritic, direct consumer marketing. Like, in their face direct. Take a look at this amusing video showing XCOM: Enemy Unknown Lead Designer, Jake Solomon, working undercover on the floor of an American video game store.
Feel his pain as he tries to sell his own game to customers that clearly want something else. 2K are going to have quite a struggle selling this sort of game on consoles, so it’s good to see them poking a little fun at themselves. Kevin Butler’s time may be up, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see more things like this. If only somebody could calm Randy Pitchford down a little.
Sony is suing Jerry Lambert, the actor who plays Kevin Butler after he appeared in an advert for Bridgestone Tires playing a Wii game.
Butler was the face of many of Sony’s advertising campaigns and was adored despite only having a fictional executive role in the company. This was due to his cheeky adverts that didn’t mind poking fun at the competition, especially Microsoft’s Kinect device, “who wants to chase a red ball!” The highpoint being a rousing E3 speech dedicated to gamers.
This is more like it, a trailer that shows continuous uninterrupted gameplay as opposed to flashily edited footage using multiple angles. This is how the game will look when you’re playing it. Frankly, it’s made us want it even more as this really could fill that Burnout sized hole we’ve had in our hearts since 2008.
There seems to be a lot of information on screen at once, which could prove to be a distraction, especially the options we glimpsed showing how you can adjust impact protection settings and the like. The event we see looks intense enough as it is. While trying to track down an opponent we’re flying through the huge environment trying to lose the cops by beating speed traps and slamming through barricades too. So far, this may be the most appropriately titled game in the series. Continue reading Lose The Cops In Latest Need For Speed: Most Wanted Gameplay Trailer→
Well Microsoft, you didn’t manage to keep that as an exclusive for very long did you? We’re delighted to tell you that Joe Danger 2: The Movie will be coming home to PSN next week on October 10th.
The PS3 version will be coming packed with exclusive content too which will make up for the wait hopefully. Essentially, we’re getting something of a Director’s Cut or something Sean Murray and the Hello Games team have referred to as Joe Danger Gaiden when speaking to the EU PS Blog. Essentially this is the bastard-hard version of the original game deemed too harsh for mass consumption at the time and will last at least ten hours.
Almost a year after coming to PSN, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken finally has a firm October 15th release date for the PC.
If you ever wondered what the OddworldAbe games would play like if he had a machine gun then Rocketbirds is keen to let you know. Featuring 2D gameplay with platforming and puzzle solving, a bit of lateral thinking is required to get past the guards. That, and a few mind-control grenades. The shooting is surprisingly violent as enemies can be juggled in the air as you riddle them with bullets.
The traditional point and click style adventure game is dead and buried as far as consoles are concerned, which makes Frogwares decision to bring this series to PS3 and Xbox 360 a brave one, but we’re certainly up for giving it a go.
Instead of the usual lever-pulling puzzles we’re used to, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes will require a bit more brainpower to proceed. Solving gruesome murder mysteries is the most enticing prospect and when you’re investigating a crime scene, the game really stands out. As with many of these games though, there tends to be a reliance on bizarre puzzles too. More on those later.
