Batman: Arkham Knight has suffered yet another delay. Instead of releasing June 6th, you’ll now have to wait until June 23rd. It’s not the longest of delays (Uncharted 4 has hurt us the most in recent weeks) and we’re glad that Rocksteady is waiting until they decide the game is ready if we’re honest.
Arkham Knight is looking fantastic so far and Warner Bros has released a new trailer called ‘Officer Down’ to ensure our appetite doesn’t diminish while we wait. Enjoy the video below to see a fresh seven minutes of gameplay. After that, take a look at our hot pre-order offers, where you can reserve a PS4 or XO copy from as little as £37.99. Heads up, meatbags! We finally have a gameplay video for Cyanide Studio’s Blood bowl 2, which is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One soon. The video shows an Orc team defending their lines against the human-led, Reikland Raiders. We say humans, but they seem to have recruited an Ogre too!
Blood Bowl 2 is a much more tactical sports game, with a turn-based style that oddly suits the NFL-inspired sport, which is very stop/start in nature too. So expect to see some on-screen dice rolling to determine outcomes of plays. On the plus side, you’ll get the option to re-roll sometimes when your fat-handed orc fumbles it.
With NFL becoming more and more popular outside of the USA, we’re looking forwards to this one, especially seeing as it swaps out the mind-boggling data pile of stats and try-hard tattoos for spikes, vicious violence and all our favourite Games Workshop Warhammer races like orcs, dark elves, dwarves, chaos, skaven and more. Blood Bowl II is the first time the series has come to consoles in a long-time too, which should widen up the player-base more than ever.
Gamers who have purchased the digital version of Battlefield: Hardline on PS4 are reporting issues for the game’s installation in-game. Once the game has downloaded from the store and the latest software patch has been installed, gamers are able to start the game as per normal. Once games are downloaded from PSN, they install automatically on the main menu usually.
However, that’s not the end of the installation for Battlefield: Hardline. My own experience so far with a digital copy has been matched with multiple reports appearing online right now. On the game’s main menu, they are seeing a screen like the one below. Multiplayer does not appear yet and only Episodes are selectable. Diving in, I found I was able to play the brief prologue level before being kicked back to the menu as the rest of the game has yet to be ‘installed’.
It’s odd that an install is taking place in game and there doesn’t seem to be anything else downloading, not on the PS4’s download list anyway. After staring at the screen for a few minutes and not seeing the % go up at all, I decided to leave it be and come back in 30 minutes. An hour later and it had only gone up an additional 3%. After the recent disappointing news that Traveller’s Tales would not be completing Lego The Hobbit with content from the third movie, we felt somewhat screwed over by the studio and Warner Bros. Giving us all four Jurassic Park movies in one game is certainly a step in the right direction though. Today’s new trailer boasts that the upcoming Lego Jurassic World will include content from the original trilogy and the new film. Clever girl, indeed.
Original dialogue from the movies will be included, in a similar way to the Hobbit and LOTR titles, and we think it lends itself to humour a little bit more than the po-faced Middle Earth adventures. Lego Jeff Goldblum – what else does a game need? Iconic scenes to be found in the trailer all seem to be from the first movie so expect Lego-riffs on the T-Rex chase, the Clever Girl moment and the Raptor feeding scene.
Regular gameplay is a bit thin on the ground. Will hitting raptors with a stick be a viable option? We somewhat doubt it, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see guns play a larger role. The little procompsognathus are probably going to get a kicking though. Fingers crossed we get to play as dinosaurs at some point too. The dilophosaurus is surely an apt character for spitting at Lego target switches?
A few sites seems to have gotten an early peek at the Season Pass content for the upcoming Project Cars. No details of pricing are listed but the pass seems to include the following content:
Check out the brand new story trailer for Mortal Kombat X one of our most eagerly awaited titles of 2015. Just like the studio’s last game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, the story will see you controlling multiple characters which is a great way to try out a wide variety of the roster rather than settling on an old favourite for the entire game.
The story will take place over a period of twenty years, so prepare for some epic scenes and find out why everyone’s so keen to get their hands on that stone. The trailer also promotes the exclusive special edition at Game where you’ll get Goro as a playable character for £47.99 (ouch indeed).
Or you could order at these much cheaper prices below. Stay tuned to our game deals page for regular discount on the hottest games.
After years of being pained by the Spike VGAs, we’re not getting pulled into watching award shows in the middle of the night anymore. Even if they do promise some hot new trailers. The rebranded Game Awards 2014 kicked off around 2am GMT this morning and we have links to the winners and nominees below. You’ll also find links to the best trailers that emerged from the show. Let us know what’s caught your eye. So enjoy the videos the way you’re supposed to -with bacon and a brew.
It’s time to forget about that dream of the Blade Runner/Mirror’s Edge hybrid that was Prey 2 as Bethesda has finally admitted the long-troubled title has been canned. Enjoying the Evolve Alpha this weekend? Not on PS4 your not as it’s been postponed due to apparent compatibility issues with the console’s new 2.0 update. Oh well, the recent issues and the DriveClub omnishambles hasn’t stopped Sony shifting 13.5 million consoles in the last 11 months. Enjoy the latest odd trailers for the likes of Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Don’t forget to check out our links to our features yesterday too.
Last night saw the annual dishing out of the Golden Joysticks Awards, where games of the last 12 months and beyond (we’ll never understand the reason the awards encompass 18 months of games) rack up some Trophies of their own. While not as trailer packed as the VGAs, Bloodborne at least got a pant-filling new video along with a release date. Elsewhere we’re stoked to see new reveals for Outlast 2 and the Micro Machines-flavoured Toybox Turbos. Last up, check out the PS4 Share Play tutorial, it’s going to be a big deal next week. Links are included below, along with links to our features and reviews from yesterday.
Morning, folks! Here’s a link to some of the larger stories of yesterday for some breakfast reading. Although, we’re beginning to think that DriveClub not being online is starting to become the status quo rather than news. It seems like everyone had a rough day though with delays for our favourite upcoming racer and the latest Hitman movie. I’d clear some hard-drive space on your XO too, as Master Chief seems to have put on a bit of weight.
Morning folks, let’s see what emerged in the gaming sphere last night. Highlights include Microsoft trying to flog more XOs with Halo seeing as Destiny has seemingly sided with the PS4. There are new Disgaea and Giana Sisters games on the way. Battlefield 4 is getting yet another patch, which will hopefully iron out some of those more persistent glitches. Or maybe just add a compulsory download for the next DLC, filling our hard-drives whether we’re buying it or not. Finally, check out the near final list of games you’ll be able to play at next week’s Eurogamer Expo, or hold on for a fat collection of previews as I’m heading down there myself. You should get down there though really. Continue reading The Morning Papers – Expos, sequels and fixes→
UPDATE: ALL CODES HAVE NOW GONE OUT, CHECK YOUR INBOXES!
We’ve given our PS4 gamers the chance to get a hold of a beta key for our most anticipated shooter in years, but fear not Xbox fans, we didn’t forget about you. In fact, we have a bunch of codes to give away on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. The codes are not region locked either so they should work wherever you’re playing.
The hype for Bungie’s upcoming shooter has been building significantly since players got their hands on the Alpha build and with new missions and extra multiplayer maps to enjoy in the latest Beta version, we really think you should give it a try. Continue reading CLOSED! WIN an Xbox One or 360 Destiny Beta Code→
Earlier this week we posted part one of EA’s behind closed doors demo of Dragon Age: Inquisition, which saw expansive outdoor environments and a bloody massive dragon. Today’s latest video takes the action indoors to Redcliffe Castle.
The latest gameplay demo gives us a better look at the extensive tactical options available for those of you that don’t want to play the game like a button-bashing action title. Ordering party movement, creating choke points and using elevation for an advantage are all shown off. There are also a few story scenes to enjoy along with some of those trademark Bioware decisions to make on the fly and it looks like your group is just as unruly as ever.
The game’s certainly proving to be a bit of a looker too -although we prefer the lush outdoors of the previous demo- especially when compared to the rather dog-eared first two games. Be sure to check outy the new video and let us know if you’re going to give the game a chance or are you just working your way through the backlog until The Witcher III arrives? Want to see the difference between the original PS2 game and the upcoming HD remaster for Kingdom Hearts 2? Well, be sure to check out the new interactive trailer which sweeps between the old and new versions. In addition to smoother textures, it seems that Square-Enix have taken the time to add some extra colours as shown by some metallic greys now replaced with gold or rust coloured textures.
The first Kingdom Hearts remaster proved to be a big hit and reminded us why we loved the original so much all those years ago. The next instalment will include remasters for Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix Edition, Birth By Sleep (formerly released on the PSP) and a cutscene compilation of Re:Coded. With Kingdom Hearts 3 probably not arriving until late 2015 at the earliest, you have lots of time to check out the originals first. Continue reading Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Comparison Trailer→
We’ve just had the latest release schedule from Bandai Namco and Tekken X Street Fighter is still AWOL. Just like it was when I raised concerns in February last year.
Initially announced for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms five years ago, recent updates have seen the platforms replaced with TBC, raising suspicions that the game will now be coming to the new-gen consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One. Originally we were expecting the game to land a year after Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken, but we haven’t even seen a single screenshot, leading to further speculation that the game has been cancelled. Are Bandai Namco set to drop it in order to move forwards with their FTP fighters like Tekken Revolution or Soul Calibur Lost Swords?
A new trailer for Diablo III on the PS4 has just landed showing off fresh gameplay for Blizzard’s upcoming action RPG. This is one of the first looks we’ve had for a while since its epic delay. The trailer doesn’t show any multiplayer action but we know that Diablo III will support 4-player co-op both online and locally. Continue reading Diablo III PS4 Next-Gen Gameplay Trailer→
A little over a year ago we saw Road Redemption enter the Kickstarter scene and successfully reach its target in order to bring us a Road Rash-style thrash on the highway that’s been missing from our lives for all too long.
Backers can now gain access to the game’s Alpha version and the devs have released a new gameplay video that brings all sorts of memories back from our Mega Drive days. You can buy into the Alpha now and secure a Steam copy later on for an admittedly pricey-looking $33.99. Head on over to the game’s website for more information.
Console support was one of the game’s stretch goals, but there’s currently no mention of when or what other platform we can expect this on when I checked the website. A quick look at their forums confirmed that Oculus Rift support is something that is being considered though. For now, check out the new footage of the biker combat-racing game and let us know what you think. Continue reading Road Redemption Gets New Gameplay Footage→
Xbox gamers will still need a paid Xbox Live Gold account to play games like The Elder Scrolls Online or World of Tanks despite Microsoft ditching the Xbox Live Gold members-only restriction to entertainment services like Netflix and Hulu. This again puts Microsoft in the firing line when compared to services available on the PS4 as Sony’s console currently allows non-paying subscribers to use extra services and play free-to-play games without any additional fees.
That’s right folks; the Dubstep craze has hit Middle Earth! While questing towards a lengthy Platinum Trophy in Lego The Hobbit, you can unearth one of the many Red Bricks that act as cheat mods for the game, giving you anything from stud multipliers, disguises, super slaps and many more besides. Well, activate one called Middle Earth Festival and you’ll never get bored roaming around the open world hunting down those final Mithril Bricks.
Have you ever wanted to see your favourite Lego The Hobbit characters get down to some seriously bangin’ dubstep including dialogue samples from The Hobbit and LOTR movies as Middle Earth is bathed in disco lighting? Who hasn’t! It already sounds better than watching any of the Hobbit movies again.
Take a look at this quick video I pulled from my PS4 this weekend that shows various minifig characters getting down. The video includes dancing from the likes of Bilbo, an elf, Sauron, Gandalf, a dwarf and naturally, Gollum.
Lego The Hobbit has turned out to be quite a buggy and lazy release from Traveller’s Tales, but with the promise of an easy Platinum Trophy and some fun co-op adventuring (that’s what I’m calling recruiting my girlfriend into halving the workload) I’ve managed to find an amusing way to grind through the final hours. There’s a retro 8-bit cheat mod too, but in all honesty, it’s a bit rubbish.
As amusing as it is, it won’t be enough to stop me slinging the finished game on eBay as soon as I’m done, despite the final part of the Hobbit trilogy coming later in DLC form. Frankly, I’m still a bit disappointed that Warner Bros are fleecing fans by releasing the game now instead of December as a complete edition. That said, I’d expect a complete re-release around then for the same price Lego The Hobbit is now. So maybe, it’s best to wait if you’ve not picked up the game yet.
Let us know your thoughts about Warner’s odd timing for Lego The Hobbit or if you’ve found anything amusing in the game so far too.
It’s no secret that bargain-savvy gamers the world over are guilty of buying more games than they’ll ever have time to play. Each Steam sale is greeted with excitement and regret as the pile of unfinished games inevitably grows. Well, it would seem that many Steam gamers are too busy to even try some of their purchases, with new research indicating that 37% on the games purchased on the PC’s top platform have never even been booted up.
The extensive user data was compiled by Ars Technica who used Steam members’ public data and a computing system to gain a wide random sample that allowed them to create a reasonable average.
