Rock Band 4 may support cross-platform catalogue compatibility

It has emerged that there is a slim chance that gamers’ existing catalogue of Rock Band tracks may work on next-gen consoles, even if they are making a platform holder switch. So Xbox 360 gamers may be able to use their tracks on PS4 and PS3 gamers use them on Xbox One.

Harmonix has already confirmed gamers will be able to use their existing library on the new-gen machines if they stick to the same console family – PS3 to PS4 for example. But for those of you that may have gone from Xbox 360 to PS4, there’s a slight chance your old library could be made compatible too.

When asked about the possibility in an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK (Issue 108), Harmonix’s Product Manager, Daniel Sussman said: Continue reading Rock Band 4 may support cross-platform catalogue compatibility

Towerfall Ascension Dark World DLC landing this week

Towerfall Ascension is getting its first DLC expansion tomorrow. The Dark World pack will be priced $9.99 (UK price TBC) on PS4 and PC and will include a new four-player co-op mode, complete with extra bosses and brand new powerups. We presume the new powerups will also make an appearance in the regular competitive modes. You’ll also find an additional four level sets and ten additional archer characters to choose from.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a massive fan of Towerfall Ascension at launch. But it has really grown on me since, especially when played with gamer buddies who are fond of retro titles. It can be a little hardcore at first, but before long we were all bouncing around the screen and having an absolute blast. Co-op mode was fun with two players, but increasing the player count to four sounds much better. Although friendly fire could certainly be a danger! Check out the new DLC for yourself via this new trailer. Continue reading Towerfall Ascension Dark World DLC landing this week

TRAILER: Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited console release only a month away

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has taken its sweet time getting to consoles, so much so we’d almost forgotten about it. But on June 9th the online RPG will finally arrive on Xbox One and PS4 and this new trailer has certainly rekindled our interest here at Dealspwn.

A while back, Bethesda made the wise decision to drop monthly subscription fees which could be a mega boost for sales on consoles and we’ve already seen it prove to be a popular move with the PC version. This new trailer is a newbie-friendly introduction to some of the things you’ll be able to do in the game. It’s one hell of an appetiser really. Fantasy RPG fans are enjoying a great flow of titles lately with Dragon Age: Inquisition over Christmas, The Witcher III soon and now an online title to get stuck into with friends. Take a look at the trailer and let us know if you’re tempted. We’d love to hear from those of your already playing the PC game too. You’ll also find links to the best prices after the break.

You may still be able to download Silent Hills P.T. despite its removal from PSN

The P.T. Silent Hills teaser demo has now been deleted from PSN stores worldwide. Already, we’ve seen a few cheeky gamers put their PS4s with the demo installed on eBay for prices upwards of £1000. And who can blame them? Many people made quite a bit of money by doing the very same thing with their mobile phones when Flappy Bird was originally taken offline. We don’t think P.T. will be coming back though. However, there is a chance that you can still download it.

Many of us download any freebie we can get our hands on. And PlayStation + subscribers may certainly have a full hard-drive by now. Chances are you downloaded P.T. at launch, then deleted it before you got time to play it in order to free up some space or just generally tidy up your PS4’s dashboard. Well, you’re in luck if you still want to play P.T. and sample what we’re all going to be missing out on since the cancellation of Silent Hills. PlayStation + May 2015 games are…

This month’s selection for the PlayStation + Instant Game Collection has just been announced. We have to say, we’re a little disappointed that they don’t match the ‘leaked’ ones from a German site a few days ago. Another month goes by where I don’t get a free copy of Knack. That’s probably for the best though, as there are some decent titles to choose from this month, along with a few that you may not have heard of before.

Here’s what’s coming on May 6th with our review hyperlinked in where applicable: Continue reading PlayStation + May 2015 games are…

Just Cause 3 trailer is suitably insane

Here it is folks, leaked a few hours earlier than we were expecting, the first proper gameplay trailer for Just Cause 3. It certainly doesn’t disappoint and is packed with that wonderful grappling hook, ridiculously dangerous attitudes to vehicle safety and more explosions than a Michael Bay montage. In short, it looks like the most fun game of 2015. Take a peek and see for yourselves.

Also, stay tuned to Dealspwn as I’ll be bringing you a feature article later today on some of the finer points that’ll have you wanting Just Cause 3 even sooner. Continue reading Just Cause 3 trailer is suitably insane

Call of Duty: Black Ops III gets ridiculously fun trailer

The brand new gameplay debut trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops III from Treyarch just landed and it’s pretty damn awesome if we’re honest.

You’ll have fun spotting some of the ‘influences’ from other hit games. So far we can see reminders of the likes of Vanquish, Titanfall, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Binary Domain and wait,,, Haze? We can’t wait to get our hands on the game as it looks set to continue in a similar manner to the highly enjoyable Advanced Warfare, despite development reverting back to Treyarch.

We didn’t see exo-suits, but enhanced movement like speed thrusts, wall-running and knee slides certainly seem to be in. Along with Deus Ex-style upgrades and robotic enemies and mechs as seen in the likes of Vanquish and Binary Domain. We’re certainly not complaining, mash up all these influences and you have the potential for a fantastic shooter. Advanced Warfare was the boot up the arse the series needed and Black Ops III looks like it may speed things up even more. We most certainly approve. Play Blackpool Arcade, Indie & Retro expo tickets still available

Gaming fans should get themselves up north for the excellent Play Blackpool event running from May 2nd to May 4th. The show is an absolute bonanza for fans of all things retro, indie and arcade.

The show floor will once again be packed with consoles from every generation and fully unlocked classic arcade cabinets (do not insert coin!), featuring a classic selection of games for you to try. The console range is incredible and you’re bound to find a few that you never even knew existed. Or maybe you’ll finally get to play on something you’ve had your eye on for a while. Last year, I got to try out Nintendo’s ancient Virtual Reality headset, the Virtual Boy which was actually very impressive considering it was in people’s houses in 1995.

The range of modern indie games has been expanded this year. In addition to the wide selection of PC titles, there will also be Xbox One and PS4 areas sporting a wide range of titles, especially ones that feature local multiplayer. If you’ve wanted to try out the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, then this is the place to do it, just like I did last year. Llamasoft have confirmed they’ll once again be bringing something for you to play on it and a few other studios are said to be bringing VR games too. Mad Max gameplay trailer unleashes the Road Warrior

Today’s brand new Mad Max trailer has been well worth the wait as we finally get to see lots of gameplay. As expected, there’s a large focus on the vehicular combat, which looks similar to Rage, but with the fun factor turned up to 11. The desert may be all sorts of brown, but it’s looking very detailed too.

The extensive trailer also shows off lots of combat features and emphasises that most of the on-foot action will be based around melee fights as ammo is incredibly rare in this post apocalyptic world. Customisation of your Magnum Opus car and Max’s gear also gets a look in showing that there’s much more depth to the game than we originally imagined.

Fans of the Mad Max movies may be a bit annoyed that the Australian setting seems to have been ditched for the States (are those the remains of the Golden Gate Bridge we see?), but we’re presuming this is something the upcoming movie remake has done anyway. That said, Gibson fans (he used to be cool, before he turned into a massive anti-semite) will enjoy brief glimpses of homages to the original movies, like Max eating dog food and a cheeky glimpse of the Thunderdome. Star Wars: Battlefront trailer shows gorgeous ‘in-engine’ footage

It’s been a great day for Star Wars fans as many of us had breakfast while hitting repeat on the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, and now we have the first proper trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront. It looks like we’ll get to play the game before the new movie too as EA announced a November 20th release date in the UK and November 17th in US for the game PS4, Xbox one and PC.

If you’ve missed out on earlier details on Star Wars: Battlefront, we’ll catch you up before you watch the trailer below. Up to 40 players will do battle as two teams across famous environments of the original Star Wars trilogy. Players will be able to switch between first and third-person perspectives while on foot or when controlling vehicles. Oh yes, those iconic vehicles like AT-ATs, X-Wings, speeder bikes and more are back and set to be ridiculous amounts of fun. There will also be hero/villain gameplay opportunities where players will get to control legendary characters like Darth Vadar and walk around the Battlefield with almost godlike powers.

Sounds almost perfect, but we’re a little disappointed that there will be no space battles (local atmosphere aerial battles are still a thing). Being able to go from the battlefield to space in one fight would have been great though, and we were kind of expecting it as a next-gen feature to be honest. DICE General Manager Patrick Bach told IGN: “The core of Star Wars battles — the Endors, the Hoths, et cetera — you want to take that to perfection. You want to do it right. Space is hard, right? Not from a [development] perspective, but from a logistical perspective. Is that fun? For us it doesn’t make sense to create a battle above you if you’re fighting other players who are not there to fight. Our focus is to do planetary battles.” We’re not entirely sold on that excuse, but given how poorly DICE’s choppers handle in Battlefield 3 and 4, we might be better off. Anyway, aren’t you the best for reading through all this first? Enjoy the trailer!

Ultra Street Fighter IV dated and priced for PS4 release

Sony have just posted on their US blog, that they’re ‘aiming’ for a May 26th release date for Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 in the US and Europe. Fingers crossed they make the date as we’re pretty pumped for a new version of Street Fighter IV.

You’d think that after multiple re-releases, we’d be burnt out on Capcom’s series, but no. This new version will contain all of the extra costume DLC, all the extra characters and all stages released from every version of SFIV. Better yet, this version will also include five new characters and six new stages. The input lag noticed by some players of Ultra SFIVC on PS3 has also been fixed. The Omega Mode where all the character balances are nerfed will also make an appearance. Best of all though is the price. Continue reading Ultra Street Fighter IV dated and priced for PS4 release

Attack on Titan gameplay footage breaches the wall

Attack on Titan is one of the most popular new names in manga/anime right now and we’re rather excited about the new game. But also a bit nervous as the complex action could be a tough test for the 3DS to handle. For those of you that haven’t seen the anime (it’s on UK Netflix, so get it sorted), it features humans taking on huge Titan enemies that keep breaching city walls to nom all the humans. Using your ODM (Omni-directional Mobility) Gear you use wired hooks to fly around a level in a manner not a million miles away from Spider-Man.

It’s not clear how much control you’ll have in the final game over movement, but it would seem that the critical strikes are QTE’s with timed strikes required via timing circles indicating the best time to hit the button. If players are given manual control over movement, we hope the camera is up to the job, as anyone that has seen the show will attest, the Scout Titan killers move very quickly and change direction to dizzying effect. 4-player co-op will be included with online and local options, which sounds fantastic if we’re honest and the game seems to be shaping up way better than we imagined. Godzilla gameplay trailer hits downtown

Want to see what Godzilla looks like on PS4? Then you’re in the right place as we have a new gameplay trailer, showing off multiple monsters going at it from Godzilla’s long movie history. You might not know it from the trailer, but this is a full-priced release coming to PS3 and PS4 in July. Call me skeptical, but if we questioned whether Evovle was worth £40, Godzilla is certainly facing a uphill struggle. That said, if this summer is anything like last year, we’ll be desperate for any new game. There, and I thought I wasn’t going to be able to say anything nice.

Stay tuned to Dealspwn.com as Jon went to a preview day at Bandai Namco recently and got his mitts on it.  Take a look at the trailer below and see the King of Monsters in action. Continue reading Godzilla gameplay trailer hits downtown

Bloodborne has already sold 1 million copies

Bloodborne Review | Hunt. Die. Learn. Grow.

Sony have just confirmed that as of April 5th, Bloodborne has sold over one million copies. This is the number sold worldwide and marks a huge success for the Sony/From Software partnership as fans of the Dark Souls series, and probably a fair few new fans, have flocked to the game since its release just a few short weeks ago.

Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios said: “Bloodborne was a new challenge for us, and our goal was to create a title that took full advantage of the power of PS4.” And also: “I am thrilled that so many users have been enjoying the extremely rich and detailed world, beautiful melancholic atmosphere and palpable tension of Bloodborne. [Sony] will continue to bring exciting software titles that offer entertainment experiences only possible on PS4.” Continue reading Bloodborne has already sold 1 million copies

Destiny: House of Wolves debut trailer is live

Destiny fans can finally see the new House of Wolves expansion DLC in action thanks to a new trailer that’s just hit the net. Bungie and Activision are going head-to-head with The Witcher III though with a May 19th release date.

With Bungie’s DLC being of seriously questionable value so far, it seems nuts to go up against a game that gamers have been chomping at the bit for. The Witcher III is set to offer 200 hours of missions no less. While House of Wolves will cost £19.99 (also a part of the Season Pass) and possibly last a night or two -aside from repeating farming and grinding, naturally. Unless you already own the Season Pass, we’d say wait for the reviews to see if Bungie learned from their past mistakes with The Dark Below. Lego Dimensions officially announced as Skylanders rival: check out the reveal trailer

Following a timely leak earlier today, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment have officially announced Lego Dimensions (perhaps a little earlier than they intended).

It will function much like Skylanders or Disney Infinity, with players able to buy NFC-chipped official Minifigures and playsets that can transfer characters into a tie-in videogame via a LEGO Portal peripheral.

A familiar idea, but LEGO Dimensions is set to bring an entirely new… dimension… to the traditional NFC experience since we’ll actually be able to play with articulated minifigures that are compatible with the LEGO sets we already own, as opposed to just collecting static figurines. Not to mention mixing together characters from loads of famous franchises too.

Mario Kart 200cc comparison trailer has all the speed

Mario Kart 8 has been feeling the need for speed for a while now. So we’re delighted to hear that Nintendo is bringing back the 200cc motors. This new comparison video shows how fast they are compared to the 150cc vehicles, which are currently the fastest rides in Mario Kart 8.

Yes, Nintendo. So much yes. The 150cc karts feel a little slow to be honest, but this injection of speed should see us knocking a third off our best lap times and we can’t wait for the new motors to land as a FREE update on April 23rd. On the same day a new paid DLC bundle will be available with two new characters and eight new tracks. Consider us tempted.

If you have any GameCube controllers you want to use on your Wii U for Mario Kart 8 or Super Smash Bros, be sure to pick up this cheap Gamecube to Wii U controller adapter for £9.99. Check out the new trailer below. Continue reading Mario Kart 200cc comparison trailer has all the speed

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided official reveal trailer

Well folks, after a rather clumsy ‘reveal’ from Square Enix, where details leaked out during the rather boring multi-day Twitch broadcast, we have the first trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Now, wouldn’t that have just been easier rather than whatever was happening with Twitch, where everyone guessed it was going to be a new Deus Ex title anyway?

To be honest, we’re still massively excited as we were beginning to fear it might be another mobile/tablet game rather than a PC and new-gen console title. Although, a Kane & Lynch match-three game would have been bad-ass. Anyways, enough chit-chat, let’s take a look at what Adam Jensen is getting up to and when you’re done, be sure to read Jon’s newest article What we want from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – better graphics are just the start.
