Amusing Lego Lord of the Rings Trailer

We always knew that the team behind the Lego Lord of the Rings game would be able to find plenty of fun to poke at the movies and this glimpse into the game’s cutscenes doesn’t disappoint. Enjoy snippets from the three films as they’re given the Lego charm makeover. Is it just us or are the Lego Orcs a bit on the sinister side for Lego? Gollum on the other hand, is just adorable.

Until Dawn Halloween Trailer

Sony has released a new Halloween trailer for their upcoming PS Move horror title, Until Dawn. The game was revealed at Gamescom in the summer and we’ve not seen much from it since, but hopes are high as it looks to be packing in the atmosphere and frankly, we’re desperate for a decent Move title that isn’t a minigame/sports title.

For more information about the game check out Matt’s preview. Check out the trailer after the jump and see if you can spot which film series has inspired this scene. It’s not hard.

McLovin Stars in Far Cry 3 Live Action Miniseries

Christopher ‘McLovin’ Mintz-Plasse is starring in a new mini-series to promote Far Cry 3, the Far Cry Experience. This live action miniseries injects as dose of humour to the series as the Superbad / Kick Ass actor is put on a tropical island to promote the game before suddenly, shit gets real, Tropic Thunder-style.

Funny throughout, we can’t wait to see if Chris and his cameraman can survive the inevitable confrontation with Vaas, who has recently become a fan of chaining tourists to rocks and firing rockets at them. The little scamp.

When Vikings Attack (Review)

Picking a simple premise for a game can be enough to make the most basic of efforts entertaining for hours. Just look at Angry Birds, Plants Vs Zombies or Calling All Cars – the latter being the best PSN game you’ve never played.

When Vikings Attack comes at us with its own simple mechanics aiming to be easy to pick up for the masses. Throw in multiplayer, cross-play with the Vita and extra characters to unlock and it’s clear that the developers think the game has a shot. These ambitions spiked my interest and after five minutes, I thought this could work. Sadly, after 15 minutes, it got boring. Half an hour later and it felt like all possibilities of enjoyment were driven from my very soul.

Limb Lopping Returns to Ninja Gaiden on the Wii U

Have you been looking at the Wii U line-up and thinking there aren’t enough titles that let you hack people’s limbs off? Well, you might have a few issues, but at least Tecmo Koei want to indulge you, as Ninja Gaiden Sigma 3: Razor’s Edge brings back the butchery after the PS3/360 versions were criticised for toning down the violence. As well as being a bit rubbish.

Ryu will be getting a host of new weapons in the Wii U version including a heavy staff and a demented new fangled weapon that from what we can tell (it moves very fast) is something sharp and nasty on the end of a chain. Ayane makes an appearance too as an exclusive playable character with her own missions.

Despite the game being a launch title in the states, we won’t be seeing it until January 11th. Looks like we’ll have to settle for Zombi U for our launch day bloodletting. Check out the new trailer for Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge after the break.

New PSN Store Makes a Mess of Things

The recent 4.30 PlayStation 3 patch included a complete overhaul for the PSN Store, which now resembles the clunky setup on the Xbox 360. I’ve been waiting for a few days, just in case any tweaks were made, but now it seems this is what Sony are happy with. So how does it compare with the old store?

Well, I’ve logged on a few times since the re-launch, at different times of the day, and I’ve waited on average about 40 seconds each time to get the store to load up. The previous version usually took under ten.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz Vita Launch Trailer

The Super Monkey Ball series hasn’t really found a home since the days of the GameCube. But from the looks of this new launch trailer, the PS Vita may be a perfect match for the series.

Featuring optional tilt controls, lots of touchscreen elements and a grand selection of minigames and local and online multiplayer modes this looks very promising. You don’t need me to tell you that everything’s better with monkeys. And this has Monkey flippin’ Bingo. Aces.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is out on the PS Vita now and you can see the trailer by clicking the link below.

New Hitman: Absolution Trailer Shown at Golden Joystick Awards

Attendees of yesterday’s Golden Joystick Awards were privy to an exclusive new Hitman: Absolution trailer. While a little light on gameplay, it ramps up the excitement with a cinematic build-up as we edge closer to the game’s release. OPM and OXM are the only publications with reviews so far and they both score the game 9/10 ahead of the November 20th release.

We’re super excited for Agent 47’s return, check out Jon’s hands-on preview to see why. Enjoy the trailer after the jump.

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation Video Shows Off Touch Controls

Check out this interview with Richard Farrese, writer of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, to see lots of gameplay involving the PS Vita’s touchscreen and touchpad controls. The screen can be used to paddle a canoe and rear pad brushes let you sneakily pick the pockets of people around town.

We also get to see the new chained kills system, where Aveline builds up a metre by being stealthy, before pausing the action, allowing you to tap multiple targets to take out in spectacular fashion. We’ve not been excited for a Vita game in quite some time, but this is certainly looking like the best we’ve seen since Drake. See the video after the jump.

LittleBigPlanet Karting Gets A Story Trailer

The latest trailer for LittleBigPlanet Karting gives us a glimpse into the story thanks to a bit of narration from one Stephen Fry. There’s plenty of gameplay on show too, which might get you interested in the new kart racer coming from United Front Games, the studio behind ModNation Racers. Check out Matt’s hands-on preview while you’re here.

Game Offering An Extra 33% On Console Trade-In Values

If you’re looking to ease the pain of a pricey purchase for a Wii U or PS Vita this Christmas, why not take advantage of Game’s temporary offer? They’re offering an extra 33% value on the price of their trade-ins on the following consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, PS2, PSP, Wii, DS and 3DS.

Bioshock Infinite Getting A Board Game

Well, we didn’t see that coming. The tabletop board game, Bioshock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia, will allow players to fight for the city as the Founders or Vox Populi. Irrational Games approached Plaid Hat Games to make the game and the team were “ecstatic” to get to work on it, as they were already big fans of the series.

The recently announced Songbird Edition of the video game features one of the miniatures that can be used in the game. Don’t worry if you don’t want to splash out on that edition of the game too, there are 52 more in the board game’s box along with cards, dice and so on.

WRC 3 (Review)

I’d never make it as a WRC driver. Mainly because my first thoughts to hearing the words “Don’t cut” from my co-driver are “why not?” Which makes the rewind feature an invaluable tool in the boot of my rally experience, as once again Milestone encourage me to take my favourite Colin McRae inspired approach to rallying: “If in doubt. Flat out.”

Milestone has produced two of the best rally experiences I’ve had on this generation of consoles. Admittedly, WRC 2 was something of a version 1.5 over its predecessor, but the vision of the series has always been pure rallying, which is more than can be said of Codemasters’ recent efforts. Codemasters took the great Colin McRae series and produced the first impressive Dirt game before absolutely nailing it with Dirt 2. Then they got a big old man crush on Ken Block and started to make us drive our cars like poledancers. Sad times.

Capcom Already Planning Remember Me Sequels

Despite Remember Me not even having a firm release date, it would seem Capcom are already planning to turn the game into a series. The new IP was revealed at Gamescom and has impressed us ever since with a series of gameplay videos showing combo editors, brawling and some seriously slick sci-fi locations.

At the end of the day, new IPs are risky ventures and it’s not really surprising that Capcom aren’t planning a one-off title.

Metro: Last Light Loses Multiplayer

The multiplayer component of upcoming FPS title, Metro: Last Light has been cancelled. 4A Games made a statement via the game’s blog, citing a desire to concentrate on the single-player campaign as the reason.

The decision was made after E3, but has only just been confirmed publically. Despite keen fan interest for details about the multiplayer, the developers realised that the single-player experience was what fans really care about. While the game won’t ship with any multiplayer, we could still see something later on.

The Unfinished Swan (Review)

Sony’s PS3 continues to lead as a platform striving to offer as many diverse experiences as possible. Admittedly, most have them have come from That Game Company in the shape of Flow, Flower and Journey. So it’s good to see a new studio emerge from under Sony’s wing to show us such a visually arresting game.

While the game is a first person title, I’d hesitate to class it as a first-person shooter, although it handles that way. There are no bullets here though, only paint and a few platforming sections.

XCOM Designer Goes Undercover In Game Shop

This is what we like to see in instead of developers trying to fix scores on Metacritic, direct consumer marketing. Like, in their face direct. Take a look at this amusing video showing XCOM: Enemy Unknown Lead Designer, Jake Solomon, working undercover on the floor of an American video game store.

Feel his pain as he tries to sell his own game to customers that clearly want something else. 2K are going to have quite a struggle selling this sort of game on consoles, so it’s good to see them poking a little fun at themselves. Kevin Butler’s time may be up, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see more things like this. If only somebody could calm Randy Pitchford down a little.
