Techland has just released a new trailer for their Silas car. Well, a buggy at least. If we’re to believe their latest press release, the company are set to expand into the automotive industry for real. We expect tongues may be wedged in cheeks here:
“Today Techland announced plans to expand into the automotive industry. As a part of this process, a new automotive brand – SILAS® Motors – has been launched, with plans to specialise in automotive products based around driver safety.
The first project under this new initiative is the SILAS® All-Terrain Dirt Buggy. The vehicle is being designed with a “Driver’s Survival First” attitude, in response to the growing number of threats on the road these days. Using proprietary protective technology, the vision is to arm drivers with the right tools to deal with the current and future dangers of the road.” Continue reading Techland and Dying Light reveal the Silas car→
We’re warming up to Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate the more we see of it. Naturally, it’s facing a lot of pressure after the poor showing of Unity, but we’re sure Ubisoft is keen to get its flagship franchise back on track.
Today’s new story trailer shows us the ruthless Templar characters who are running London in Syndicate. Fans of twirly gentleman’s moustaches are in for a treat. There’s zero mention of a modern-day storyline sitting alongside the London narrative, so we presume Ubi has ditched it, which they were in the process of doing with Unity. Take a look at our features below for our earliest impressions on the game. Continue reading Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate story trailer (contains epic moustaches)→
What a joy it is to see Tearaway land on the PS4, especially if you don’t own a PS Vita and always wanted to try Media Molecule’s much-loved title. Crucially, for fans of the original, there’s enough new material here to justify owning both versions.
The Vita’s plethora of control inputs were a perfect fit for Tearaway’s ambitious ideas. Thankfully, the DualShock 4 performs admirably too, with the trackpad bearing much of the workload, which I’ll tell you about soon enough. Continue reading Tearaway Unfolded Review – Treat your DualShock 4→
It’s not hard to see why Microsoft were so keen to grab Rise of the Tomb Raider as an exclusive as it’s looking pretty damn good right now. The latest trailer is an action-packed tour of the various locations in the new title as we see gaming’s most beloved burglar embark on another epic quest to steal some fancy relics before the guys with guns do.
We’re presuming the relics are linked to an ancient power that shouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. Otherwise, it would mean that Lara’s just a murdery mental-case. We’ve always had an odd feeling about her yanno. Continue reading Rise of the Tomb Raider – Descent into Legend trailer→
We’ve said for years how we actively encourage game delays rather than play broken or unpolished products. There’s too much of an emphasis on releasing glitch-ridden games with the attitude of patching it up at a later date. I mean, Arkham Knight on PC still isn’t back in the shops!
But that’s not the reason I’m glad to see Hitman delayed into 2016. Square Enix were going to try something new this December by releasing Hitman at full price on digital stores as an incomplete product. Essentially, an episodic or segmented release, where Io Interactive would continue to develop later chapters throughout 2016 with them becoming available as free downloads when they were ready. It’s not exactly a Kickstarter model, but it’s pretty damn close. ‘Give us money and we’ll finish this game at some point.’ Continue reading Hitman’s delay averts a potential disaster→

Remember Life is Strange? That very promising episodic adventure game? Well, we finally have a release date for Episode 5, the final part in the first season.
The previous episode released at the end of July, and the gaps between episodes continues to grow as the finale won’t be ready until October 20th. That’s an absurd 12 week difference. Dontnod originally intended to release episodes every six weeks, but the second half of it has fallen way behind schedule. Continue reading Life is Strange finale will be very late→

The BBC recently aired a film of theirs called The Gamechangers. This ‘factual drama’ aimed to tell the story about Grand Theft Auto and the controversy surrounding the series around the release of San Andreas. Daniel Radcliffe starred as one of the game’s creators, Sam Houser, and Bill Paxton played the infamous Jack Thompson, the lawyer hellbent on suing Rockstar and destroying the game.
We were cautiously optimistic, but alarm bells started to ring months ago when RockStar sued the BBC for using the GTA brand without permission. It turns out that the BBC’s ‘facts’ were gathered via third-party interviews rather than direct from Rockstar or the Housers. Not long after it aired, Rockstar were quick to jump on Twitter and ask the BBC, “What exactly is this random, made up bollocks?” Continue reading Fancy a laugh? The BBC’s ‘factual drama’ about GTA is online now→
The Horizon documentary series turns its gaze to the world of videogames this week in an episode called ‘Are video games really that bad?’. The most recent (August 2015) reports are discussed, where psychologists claim to have found a link between gaming and aggression/violence. These same arguments are then refuted by other experts. More interesting is how games have been studied with the approach that they might actually be beneficial to players of all ages and even how they can improve the cognitive abilities of seniors. Continue reading BBC documentary asks “Are video games really that bad?”→
Tales of Zestiria isn’t far away now, and this new trailer is packed with battle scenes. The Tales of games are more action-orientated than most JRPGs, but they’re far from simple. Once you get rolling though, the fluid moves are a lot of fun, as I found when reviewing Tales of Xillia.

It’s all about speed and control. Speed is that vital ingredient to racing games that has us coming back for more. Just how fast can we go and stay in control? Maintaining control of the car, holding a fragile grip on the road just long enough to hold the line around that corner is all that matters. Speed and control make every corner a fight, a neck-and-neck paint-trading tussle between you and your fear of flying off the track or braking too soon and losing ground on the chase and that all-important speed. Forza 6 nails speed and control.
There’s a sweet spot to be found in Forza 6, where you’re challenged just enough by the AI and the driving aids are tuned to ensure every race is an exhilarating adrenaline rush. That’s not to say the AI difficulty options are completely reliable though. Sometimes you’ll go from winning multiple tight races in a row only to find the next one has the two lead cars are so far in front of you, you’ll think you’re in first until you notice the 3/24 indicator in the corner. Continue reading Forza Motorsport 6 Review – Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger→
Still playing Grand Theft Auto V online? Well, if you’re playing on PS4, Xbox One or PC, prepare for a massive update to the Freemode Events via Rockstar’s latest content drop. Sadly, last-gen versions won’t be getting this new content. Actually they won’t be getting anything else again, which is makes that STILL high-price of the new-gen version all the more annoying.
Our prayers were answered recently, when Capcom finally announced that Resident Evil 2 would be getting the remake treatment. Oh, how we celebrated the good times. So what next for the series? Surely Resident Evil 7? Nope, step forward Resident Evil Umbrella Corp, a competitive online shooter for PS4 and PC.
Can’t saw I saw that coming. The Resi series doesn’t have the best track record for spinoffs, especially the Online series. But the co-op modes in Revelations 2 were fun, so we’ll give this one the benefit of the doubt for now. The game will be released at a budget price of £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99. There’s even a trailer for you to take a look at and see for yourself. Continue reading Resident Evil Umbrella Corp coming to PS4 and PC in 2016→
Last week we had the Strength Fallout 4 infomercial and this week it’s time to look at the world of Perception. This retro-styled video explains how Perception fits into your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. statistical makeup.
Finished Bloodborne? Well, if somehow you’ve managed to master those Chalice Dungeons and struggle through ‘the choice’ at the game’s finale, you may be thirsty for more. More crushing defeat and agonising, torturous cruelty that only From Software are capable of inflicting. The new trailer was shown today during Sony’s presser at the Tokyo Game Show. We know it’s coming November 24th, and will be priced £11.99. Continue reading Bloodborne: The Old Hunters DLC trailer→
