Wayward Sky brings ‘look and click’ genre to Project Morpheus
It happens every year at E3. With so many megaton announcements, it’s all too easy for the smaller games to slip through the cracks. Fear not though readers, as we’ve been keeping an eye out for the hidden gems of E3 2015 and Wayward Sky certainly deserves your attention, so take a look at this teaser trailer.
This new title will work with Sony’s Project Morpheus VR headset (which was a bizarre no-show on Sony’s stage this year) in what the developers have dubbed a ‘look and click VR adventure.’ The trailer shows a mix of third-person exploration and platforming along with first-person scenes of investigating certain areas in detail.
We see a father and daughter crash land on a floating factory-like building in the sky. The father is then promptly kidnapped by a flying robot, leaving us in the shoes of the daughter, Bess, to save him. What follows is a mix of puzzle and platforming. It looks like the Morpheus headset will be especially useful when the camera goes first-person and the player can freely look around the puzzle for what could be an intuitive and immersive experience. Can Oculus Rift and VR become the future of gaming?
Over the course of the recent Play Blackpool expo, I was able to get my third hands-on experience with the Oculus Rift. It was the first time I’d been able to test the latest Crescent Bay model and earlier today we learned that the consumer model will launch in the first quarter of 2016. But is Virtual Reality ready to compete in the world of gaming? Can it be the next big thing? Let’s look at the latest evidence via hands-on experiences and by examining the VR climate.
With the ever-growing list of headsets being announced, there’s no denying the industry giants believe Virtual Reality has a large part in the future of gaming. In addition to the Oculus Rift, we have Sony’s Project Morpheus and the HoloLens from Microsoft. More recently we’ve seen Valve/HTC enter the fray with Vive, which could possibly arrive later this year, beating Oculus to the punch. Sony let the Vita and Move die. Is Project Morpheus already doomed?
As gamers, we really hope VR takes off. Oculus Rift has impressed us since we first put the virtual reality headset on and back in March, Sony announced Project Morpheus, their own brand of VR headset that would let PS4 gamers to get involved. Which, speaking as a non PC gamer, was music to my ears as I was getting dangerously close to investing in a rig so I could play with an Oculus Rift.
But is Project Morpheus doomed to follow the disturbing pattern Sony has dragged itself through over the last few years? The main PlayStation consoles have been huge successes of course; I’m talking about the state of affairs for the PS Move controllers and the PS Vita.

Not long to go now before gaming’s Superbowl lands in LA and we all go crazy for the latest new games, exciting demos and those massive revelations. Sony are going to have a hard time topping last year, where they delivered some heavy blows to their rival Microsoft, who stuttered their way through the Xbox One’s build-up campaign.

Project Morpheus PS4 Virtual Reality Headset Needs These Titles
Sony has finally officially unveiled their virtual reality headset, codenamed Project Morpheus. As a console gamer, I’ve been jealously stealing glances at the PC-only Oculus Rift headset that’s been edging closer to consumers over the last year and am greatly relieved I’m not going to have to invest in a high-tech PC to enjoy some VR gaming.
