Star Wars: Battlefront Review – Old Rope or a New Hope?

Despite the success of the original Star Wars: Battlefront games back in the PS2/Xbox days, we never saw a third game last-gen. But now, with modern gaming technology and DICE’s expertise on full throttle, we have a game that looks almost as good as the movies that inspired them.

Sure, the animations aren’t as fancy as that original trailer set on Endor, (called it!) but the graphical clarity and slick 60 frames-per-second across all platforms makes this one of the best-looking multiplayer shooters ever made. PlayStation TV gets some great price reductions

playstation-tv

PlayStation TV is a neat device that lets you play a selection of Vita games on your TV using a DualShock controller. What we find especially useful though is the PS4 streaming for playing your PS4 on a different TV in the house. Moving your PS4 up and downstairs is set to become a thing of the past. This sounds cheaper than buying a new PS4 when you inevitably fumble it too.

These latest US/UK prices are amongst the best we’ve ever seen for new units. There are some preowned options too to chip a few  extra bucks off. Continue reading PlayStation TV gets some great price reductions

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Review – A co-op coup

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is so packed with content it tough to pick a place to start. While many COD players like to skip the campaign each year and dive straight into the multiplayer, Black Ops III’s story mode marks the long-awaited return of co-op, making it one of the best campaigns the series has seen in a while.

However, I ran through the campaign playing solo first. This third entry in the convoluted Black Ops storyline jumps even further into the future. The world has gone to shit, but I can’t remember why. Soldiers have body modifications that allow them to jump higher and wall-run in a similar, but certainly toned down, version of the hyper movement skills seen in last year’s ambitious Advanced Warfare. You can now shoot while mantling over low walls and even reload while sprinting for a much more fluid feeling Call of Duty and these features gel nicely with the competitive multiplayer too. COMPETITION: Win one month EA Access and 10 hour Star Wars: Battlefront trial

[UPDATE: The competition is now closed. Check your email/twitter inboxes to see if you’ve won!]

Star Wars: Battlefront is almost here, but how would you like to play it even sooner? We have three codes to give away for a month of EA Access on Xbox One.

The highlight of EA’s program right now being a free ten hour trial for Star Wars: Battlefront. That’s right, you’ll be able to download Battlefront as soon as you get a code and play it for ten hours, unlocking new gear, XP and achievements as you go. Then you’ll have the option of buying the game via download or your save file will work when you pick up the disc version.

Once you’ve blitzed 10 hours on that though, you’ll want to spend the rest of the month’s access downloading a wealth of hot EA content included Dragon Age: Inquisition, Need for Speed Rivals, UFC, Madden 15, FIFA 15 and more.

There are two ways to enter and feel free to try through both (although you’ll only win one code).  Continue reading COMPETITION: Win one month EA Access and 10 hour Star Wars: Battlefront trial

Pricing and dates for Unravel, Alienation, Shadow of the Beast and This War of Mine

Release dates of digital titles are often tricky to lock down, but a few of next year’s early highlights have recently appeared for preorder on PSN with a release date and pricing information. They seem oddly specific too, so it’s highly likely they’re not placeholder preorders. For example, we can assume the Street Fighter V preorder for December 31st is a placeholder given Capcom have confirmed it’ll be out later in 2016.

However, titles like Unravel, Alienation, Shadow of the Beast and This War of Mine: The Little Ones seem to have more reasonable looking dates on them. Naturally, as with any game, these are subject to change, but for now, you can preorder them for the following dates and prices. How Disney Princesses would look in Fallout 4’s world

Fallout 4 is set to rampage though our lives this week, but the pop culture invasion is already well under way. Digital artist, Peter Slavik (aka Petarsaur) has turned his talents to giving iconic Disney Princesses a Fallout-style makeover.

We most certainly approve and imagine the modding community will be having a crack at bringing them to the game over the next few months. Take a look at some more images below and be sure to check out his full collection over at Deviant Art. Continue reading How Disney Princesses would look in Fallout 4’s world
