Did Microsoft choose the wrong stage demo for Rise of the Tomb Raider at E3?
Well, that’s more like it Microsoft and Square-Enix! The new extended gameplay demo of Rise of the Tomb Raider is a considerable improvement over the arguably dull E3 2015 appearance. So much so, it’s hard to imagine why Microsoft went for the video they did for their on-stage gameplay reveal over the new one released over the weekend.
The timed Xbox exclusive is one of the year’s biggest releases and the gameplay reveal at E3 was one of our most anticipated parts of Microsoft’s show. But then it happened and they turned E3 into QTE3. It wasn’t a bad demo by any means, but there was a heavy focus on quick-time-events and climbing rather than showing us extended on-foot scenes. Tomb Raider scenes. Continue reading Did Microsoft choose the wrong stage demo for Rise of the Tomb Raider at E3?
E3 2014 Predictions: Brendan’s Last Gasp Picks
Having a cheeky pre-E3 holiday was a great idea. Well, aside from the lack of internet, being awake for the last 36 hours, still having sand from the Aegean in my hair and suffering from regular twitchy lucid flashbacks of that spider that invaded my apartment one night.
But it’s the day before the biggest day in any gamers’ calendar and now that I’m no longer at the mercy of Wi-Fi powered by stray cats on a treadmill, I thought I better chuck in my Day zero predictions as the rest of the team have done for Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, EA and Ubisoft at E3 2014. Enjoy! I’m off to check my bed for spiders as big as my face. Continue reading E3 2014 Predictions: Brendan’s Last Gasp Picks
Where is the PS4’s Titanfall?

I recently got my eager hands on a demo of Infamous: Second Son at a retail preview event and I left with a distinct feeling that it won’t be the killer exclusive that the PS4 has been waiting for. With Titanfall due to hit rival platform Xbox One later this week, I was left wondering when the PS4 can expect to see its own exclusive that builds up a similar degree of hype and enthusiasm.

3DS Ends Xbox 360’s 28 Month Hardware Number 1 Streak
After an impressive 28 months sitting atop the US hardware charts, the Xbox 360 has finally been outsold, by the 3DS no less [Joystiq]. This was achieved with considerable help from Top Ten appearances in the all-format charts from Donkey Kong: Country Returns (3), Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (5) and Lego Batman 2 (10). Microsoft Officially Giving Away Fable 3 Until June 30th
We posted a deal earlier this month, highlighting a potential error on the Xbox Live store where Fable 3 was available for free. Well, it’s now an official gift to all Gold subscribers and will be available to download until the end of the month.
This seems to be a prelude to Microsoft’s new service, giving subscribers two free games per month. In July you’ll also be able to grab Assassin’s Creed 2 and Halo 3 for free. Cheer up, they may give out some newer freebies down the line. Oh, wait you’ve left to look at PS Plus subscriptions instead.
