It’s taken a while for the promised free games to start rolling in for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, but we’re seeing mild improvement each month. From today until the 15th of September subscribers can pick up Magic 2013 (aka Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013). On the 16th until the end of the month Rainbow Six Vegas will be available as a free download too.

Rainbow Six Vegas is well worth a look for any shooter fan, especially those with a taste for stealth. Magic 2013 is very niche though and won’t appeal to the vast majority of subscribers, Microsoft could have at least bagged this years’ Magic 2014 instead.

Are these games better than a kick in the teeth? Certainly, but seeing as Sony’s PS Plus September offerings include Assassin’s Creed III, Stealth Inc, Jak & Daxter Trilogy HD (cross platform), New Little King’s Story and more, you can’t help but think Microsoft don’t have a clue.
