PSN will be down briefly next week on August 18th for some planned maintenance. This is a regular thing for Sony, but a necessary nuisance we feel in order to avoid larger outages, oddly slow downloads or security breaches that have become an all too familiar conversation while discussing Sony’s network.
Don’t panic though, as you’re likely to not even notice the downtime, as the PlayStation Network will only be offline for around 90 minutes between 04:30 and 06:00. See, no need for an outrage. As per usual during maintenance, online play will be limited and there will be no access to account management or the PSN store.
Sony will need to make sure their network is in sterling condition if they’re to justify raising the prices of some of the PlayStation + packages from September as we reported last week.
