Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition may be the most pointless remaster yet

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition just £26.32 on PS4

HD makeovers or Remasters are here to stay. Generally, we’ve nothing against them if they’re reasonably priced compared to the last-gen version, or are stuffed with content and offer a decent improvement in the visuals. We had to laugh though when we saw the newly-release screenshots for Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition.

I’m so sorry spellchecker, let’s get through this.

These comparison images show the original version on top (format not specified) compared to the new PS4 version below. In all honesty, they mostly look like the contrast has been whacked up with finer detail improvements being at an absolute minimum. Hell, the last image actually looks better last-gen in terms of lighting, as brighter isn’t always better.

Other reasons to possibly take a look at the game include 1080p graphics and all the DLC tat. The new version is currently available to preorder for £25.99, but given these new screens, it would make much more sense to buy the original for about a fiver on eBay. Here’s my review of the PS3 version. Would we take a Darksiders III? If the potential of the license was finally realised by having four player co-op with the Four Horseman, we’d be all over it.
