Microsoft’s public mouthpiece, Major Nelson, has provided an official statement on the new Xbox One console and the conflicting reports surrounding how it will handle pre-owned games.
“The ability to trade in and resell games is important to gamers and to Xbox. Xbox One is designed to support the trade in and resale of games. Reports about our policies for trade in and resale are inaccurate and incomplete. We will disclose more information in the near future.”
What? Sorry dear readers, I’m guessing you thought that with an official statement coming from Microsoft we might finally have some clarification on the issue. So despite many of the recent reports coming from key Microsoft staff, they’re wrong? All of them? If MS aren’t up to something that gamers will hate regarding playing pre-owned games then why haven’t they just come out and said what they are doing? I think we all know the answer to that. It’s like when everyone guessed the end of Lost by Season 2 and the writers were all ‘nope, nobody’s worked it out yet.’
Apparently, we will find out some more details in the ‘near future’ but will it be too late by then? Exactly how long do Microsoft want to ride this wave of negative press? Sony must be laughing their socks off.
